Cafe Racer Motorcycle News and Reviews
Café Racer Motorcycles originated in the United Kingdom, specifically in London, in the 1960’s. They were striped down street motorcycles of the era made to quickly ride to the popular cafés surrounding the city. They typically had clip-on handlebars mounted directly to the fork tubes and rear-set foot pegs before these setups became common on Sport Bikes.
The Café Racer style started with British bikes but evolved to the Japanese models that started to dominate the market in the 1970’s. By the late 1970’s, motorcycle manufacturers started selling production café racer models.
Today, café racer motorcycles continue to be popular with major manufactures offering production options. The Triumph Speed Triple, Kawasaki Z900RS Café, BMW R nineT Racer, Moto Guzzi V7, Yamaha XSR900, Royal Enfield Continental GT650, Honda CB1000R and Ducati Scrambler Café Racer are good examples.
