Hansen Qualified the Champion-Framed Husqvarna on the Front Row

In this week’s Throwback, we dial back the clock to 1976 and that year’s Houston Short Track National inside the Astrodome.

Pictured is Dave Hansen racing his Husqvarna featuring a Champion frame. Hansen won his heat race over Darryl Hurst and Terry Poovey to qualify on the front row. Unfortunately, Hansen jumped the gun at the start of the main and had to move back to the penalty line and he ended up finishing ninth in the national. Still it had to be great for Husky fans to see the Swedish-made machine feature so well at an AMA Grand National.
