Where was Cameron McAdoo on Saturday night in Daytona? The Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki qualified for the 250SX East Coast main event with a seventh place finish in his heat race but the number-50 was not on the line come the main event gate drop. McAdoo issued a statement saying he elected not to race the main event and cited his already-torn ACL as the culprit. He’s scheduled for surgery this week.

“My knee has just not been strong enough today to safely race and my safety along with other riders on the track is the most important,” said McAdoo on Saturday night. “As everyone knows I will always do everything I can to race, but it was not in the cards for us today.”

Team manager Iain Southwell added, “It was a tough night with both Cameron and Levi sidelined. Rider safety comes first. Levi is doing okay and being evaluated now, and Cameron made the right call to sit out. On a positive note, Seth rode strong and put the team on the podium.”

After crashing out the Detroit round and not lining up for Daytona, McAdoo has now dropped to 16th in the 250SX East point standings and is effectively no longer a title contender. It originally seemed like McAdoo would get his knee fixed after the Monster Energy AMA Supercross season but with him opting to sit out on Saturday night, it looks like the healing process will start sooner than expected.
Fellow Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Levi Kitchen also crashed out on Saturday night and suffered a broken collarbone as well as fractures to his upper back. His crash resulted in the red flag restart but Kitchen is expected to make a full recovery.
