American Brad Lackey Won the First Moto, but Malherbe Took the Overall
In this week’s Throwback, we wind back the clock 44 years to June of 1980 and the FIM 500cc Motocross World Championship round in St. Gabriel, Quebec. Pictured is the start of the first moto of the Canadian Motocross Grand Prix with Belgian André Malherbe (No. 5) getting the jump. That’s Brad Lackey (No. 2) on the outside and Roger DeCoster in the Honda jersey just behind Malherbe. You can also see Frank Stacy (No. 26), Hakan Carlqvist (No. 3) and others.
