Right Rider Access Fund Grants Available
Press Release | November 20, 2024
National, state, and local OHV rider organizations are invited to apply for Right Rider Access Fund grants, supporting projects designed to promote OHV recreation and expand riding opportunities. The RRAF is accepting grant applications until January 15 and staff members will review them through February 15.
The RRAF is looking for applicants matching the fund’s priorities:
- Preservation and restoration of existing OHV trails
- Land access, and creation and expansion of OHV trails
- Safe and responsible land use
- Creating safe riders and OHV users, and messaging to always use safety gear
- Safe and responsible vehicle operation
Everything Outdoor Fest put a $2,000 RRAF grant to use this month at the Historic Hopkins Farm in Simpsonville, South Carolina. The event goal was to get people outside and realize the benefits for health and well-being, as well as trying out new activities, and learning about the environment through conservation and sustainability workshops.
Attendees could learn about OHV safety and responsible use through the event’s powersports partner, D2 Powersports Spartanburg, as well as Lowell Eckart, a Tread Lightly! Program Manager.
“Every opportunity we can get to share our message of responsible motorized recreation behavior and our 5 T.R.E.A.D. principles allows us to educate those who are unaware of responsible behavior off-road,” said Eckart, who led two seminars each day. “It was great to have the opportunity to talk to outdoor recreationists at both our booth space as well as through the classroom education sessions…and share why being responsible while off-road helps to protect trails and public lands for everyone.”
The RRAF is a charitable, community benefit organization created in 2011 to support off-highway vehicle enthusiasts directly by supplementing the work of the MIC, the Specialty Vehicle Institute of America, and the Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association. Its mission is to promote the safe and responsible use of off-highway vehicles and to preserve their access to appropriate lands.
