Hot on the heels of the MT-09 and MT-09 SP’s rebirth in 2024, Yamaha has done the same for the middleweight MT-07 for 2025.
The fourth-generation model keeps its 689cc parallel-twin engine, but now meets Euro5+ emissions standards. One of the biggest changes is the addition of a ride-by-wire throttle, improving throttle response and enabling the integration of three riding modes and two traction control settings.
Yamaha has also added an acoustic amplifying system, similar to the larger MT-09, that enhances induction sound, projecting a richer engine note towards the rider. Additionally, an assist and slipper clutch helps with smoother downshifts and reduces lever force for a more comfortable ride (there’s no quickshifter on the MT-07).
The MT-07 runs on lighter forged 17-inch wheels, the new bodywork, echoing the larger MT-09’s style, saves a little weight, and there’s lighter parts like lighter the fuel filler cap and chain.
The chassis is all-new, using the same tubular steel frame design—albeit lighter—that improves torsional, longitudinal, and lateral rigidity. The swingarm pivot has been redesigned for better stability, while the suspension includes upgraded 41mm inverted KYB forks, and the rear shock now offers both preload and rebound adjustment.
The ergonomic updates include handlebars are 18mm wider, 22mm lower, and 9.3mm closer to the rider, while the footpegs sit 10mm lower for better legroom. A new seat shape also enhances grip on the tank.
The bike includes a new five-inch TFT dash with mobile connectivity, Garmin StreetCross integration, new switchgear and self-canceling indicators. Available in Team Yamaha Blue, Matte Charcoal Black, and Ice Storm, the 2025 MT-07 arrives in December for $8,599.
