The SLR Honda 7X team of Justin Morgan, Tyler Lynn, Brandon Prieto and Ryan Surratt came out on top of the 2024 SCORE Baja 1000 Motorcycle results. The team led from start to finish and completed the 864-mile course with a time of 17:52:34, which converts to an average speed of 48.34 mph for the Honda CRF450X mounted team.
The second overall motorcycle was the Arturo Salas Jr, Carter Klein and Ciaran Naran 11X Honda mounted team. They finished in a time of 18:47:09, which was 54:35 behind the winning team.
Rounding out the top three for the overall motorcycles was the Husqvarna 15X mounted team of Eric Hold, Brian Whiteside, Daemon Woolslayer and Axel Pearson. Their finishing time of 19:01:12 put them an hour and eight minutes behind the winner and a little over fourteen minutes behind the second-place team.
The fourth overall motorcycle was the Adrian Ortiz, Albaro Ortiz, Sergio Garza and Manuel Gomez team riding another Honda CRF450X. Their finishing time was 19:18:04.
A team consisting of four Australian riders rounded out the top five motorcycle. Davis Walsh, Liam Walsh, Ben Grabham, Jacob Smith and Kenny Armstead raced a KTM 450XC-F to a finishing time of 19:31:02.
At the finish line, Tyler Lynn had this to say about the winning team’s day. “It was an awesome day. I started the race at 1am. Took the bike to race mile 260 with a ten-minute lead. Then Brandon Prieto extended that lead, even though we had some wire stuck in the wheel. We got that fixed. Then Justin Morgan jumped on and we got an even bigger lead. Then Tyler Surratt jumped on and got us an even bigger lead. It was a near-perfect day. The bike never touched the ground. No flaws. Nothing broke. Could not ask for a better day. To win the SCORE Baja 1000 on my first try is pretty cool. It was hot, it was cold. Sand to rocks. Every type of terrain.”
Arturo Salas Junior had this to say about his teams day that resulted in second overall. “It was a really long day, but at the same time really short. We started the race in second place, and about race mile 50 I made a mistake where they passed me and we stayed in third place until I passed the bike to Kieran. He was able to get us back in the second position and we maintained that position the whole race. Thank god we were able to have a safe and clean race after that and here we are at the finish line. Besides the error I committed pretty early on we didn’t really have any other problems. The Stella stopped working for a bit but the bike ran great, everything was perfect. I’d like to thank everyone that has been helping us out and supporting us. Our family, friends , and sponsors, but more than anything my teammates, because without them, none of this would be possible.”
