Kawasaki to debut the Versys 1100 in 2025
Rennie Scaysbrook | October 1, 2024
Much like the Kawasaki Ninja 1100 SX, the Versys will get the larger 1099cc motor for 2025.
The new motor’s stroke has been increased by 3 mm to 59.0 mm while keeping the bore at 77.0 mm, and the compression ratio has also been raised to 11.8:1 from 10.3:1.
New cams reduce valve lift and the middle two intake funnels are 45 mm longer than the outer ones for better intake flow velocity. These modifications, combined with updated ECU settings, boost torque delivery between 4,000 and 7,000 rpm. Torque peaks at 82.6 lb-ft at 7,600 rpm, a 7 lb-ft increase over the 2024 model.
Other key updates include a heavier flywheel and a secondary balancer, along with new connector pipes between the exhaust headers. Kawasaki’s also revised the transmission, dropping a tooth on the rear sprocket to 42 teeth. The 15-tooth front sprocket remains the same and the quickshifter now functions at 1,500 rpm as opposed to 2500 rpm on the 2024 bike.
Aside from engine upgrades, the Versys 1100 receives a few additional features, including a larger 260 mm rear brake disc and a new bar-mounted USB-C port.
The Versys 1100 will be available in the Metallic Graphite Gray/Metallic Diablo colorway and will set you back a claimed $19,499 MSRP. It’ll be on dealer floors by “Winter 2025”—whenever month that is…
