BMW has come out swinging in the superbike class for 2025 by releasing an updated version of the bike that won its first WorldSBK Championship this year in the hands of the über-talented Toprak Razgatlioglu.
The M 1000 RR has a new look via yet more new winglets, this time the MBW M Winglets 3.0 made by CFK, a new fairing, wheel guard, and engine spoiler which is now made of plastic, but the more interesting news is the modified engine that was already the most powerful on the WorldSBK grid.
BMW engineers have graced the M with a revised cylinder head port design and combustion chamber, full-shaft titanium valves with new tulip and seat geometry on the intake and exhaust sides, and the engine now has a new mount to the frame.
Compression has been bumped substantially from 13.5:1 to 14.5:1 and throttle valves have been bumped up from 48mm to 52mm, although U.S. peak power and torque remains at 205 hp at 13,000 rpm and 83 lb-ft at 11,000 rpm.
There’s a new 58° rotation M Quick-Action throttle, and BMW has gone into the chassis to implement some extra flex in the steering head area to give better feedback under hard braking and turning.
As for electronics, you get all the usual plethora of stuff you’d expect from the BMW’s IMU-enhanced system but with a new Slide Control function via steering angle sensor for acceleration drifts and a new Brake Slide Assist algorithm, so even if you can’t ride like Toprak, you can kind emulate him.
The 2025 model year marks the third time the M has come in for a pretty heavy revision, and BMW are celebrating (rightly so) Toprak’s dominance by offering the M Competition in Black Storm with No. 54 Toprak Razgatlioglu WSBK M Motorsport graphics, with his teammate Michael Van Der Mark not left out of the picture with his own Basic in Light White with No. 60 Michael van der Mark WSBK M Motorsport graphics.
Models are expected in BMW dealers by the second quarter of 2025 with prices to be released in the coming months.
