Throwback Thursday: Steel City Top Four from Start to Finish (1999)

Ricky Carmichael won the 125cc National over Roncada, Pingree and Vohland

In this week’s Throwback we go back 25 years to September of 1999 and the Steel City AMA 125cc Motocross National in Delmont, Pennsylvania. This Karl Ockert photo focuses on a quartet of riders coming out of the starting gate. It just so happens that Karl captured the top four finishers, who were starting next to one another. That’s Tallon Vohland (No. 771), Stephane Roncada (No. 22), David Pingree (No. 60) and Rick Carmichael (No. 1). At the end of the day, it was Carmichael coming away with the victory sweeping both motos. Roncada went (3-2) for second overall; Pingree rounded out the podium with his (2-5) and Vohland was fourth with a (5-3).
