Eli Tomac In For Team USA MXON, Replacing Sexton

Breaking news as Yamaha confirmed Eli Tomac’s spot on the 2024 Team USA roster for Motocross of Nations, replacing Chase Sexton who injured his hand at the SuperMotocross finale in Las Vegas. Tomac now joins Star Racing Yamaha teammate, Cooper Webb, and KTM’s Aaron Plessinger as the American trio battle for top honors at the Matterley Basin Circuit in Winchester, U.K., on October 4-6.
“Due to the unfortunate racing incident Chase was involved in at the final round of SMX, I was the next one in line to take his place for Team USA,” said Tomac. “Aaron, Cooper and I are ready to give it our best effort at Matterely Basin. This is very short notice for my team, but we are going to make it happen!”
Tomac will again ride the MX1 division aboard the Yamaha YX450F. He last raced the Des Nations back in 2022 where he led Team USA to victory on home soil at Red Bud. The number-three originally bowed out of the running back at the Ironman National and effectively gave his spot to Aaron Plessinger. Now with Sexton out, Tomac gets the call.
“It was an unfortunate event that Chase was injured this past weekend at the SMX Final,” said Star Racing Team Manager, Jeremy Coker. “Eli was asked to join Cooper and AP (Aaron Plessinger), and he was willing to come on board on short notice. It’s going to take a lot of work from everyone on our team to make this happen, but Star Racing is happy to support both Eli and Cooper in this effort and represent our country at MXoN.”
Still no word from Sexton or KTM on the official condition of the injured hand.
