WorldSBK Race Two
Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) took an early lead in the final race at his home circuit of Motorland Aragon and as others had to slow in the latter stages he set the fastest lap of the race in the final few laps to unsure that the hard-riding Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) could not make any form of late attack. Bautista’s 17th lap of 18 was a 1’48.121 which was almost a new lap record, and put Razgatlioglu more than two seconds behind. With one lap to go.
It was an amazing performance from the double world champion and ensured that Toprak has still not quite won a race at Motorland Aragon. He did, however, in his comeback weekend, come very close to it more than once.
Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) was down as low as ninth in the early laps but made back so many places once he had recovered that was a clear third at the flag, minimising the damage done to his points tally by his early problems.
In the championship Toprak has 414 points, Nicolo 375 and Bautista 333, with two rounds and six races to go.
Fourth place was taken by long time third place runner, Andrea Iannone (Team GoEleven Ducati) after a late attempted pass from Garrett Gerloff (Bonovo Action BMW) saw him run wide and have to recover the regular track surface to finish fifth.
Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Ducati) was sixth, from Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) and Iker Lecuona (HRC Honda).
Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK Team) was ninth and Xavi Vierge (HRC Honda) tenth in a race with no fallers or retirees.
Next round is at Estoril, between 11-13 October.

WorldSBK Superpole Race
A leading three soon developed in the ten lap WorldSBK Superpole race, with Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) at the head for most of the contest, followed by Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) and then Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati).
The three rider action waxed and waned as each bike and rider showed their merits, with some hard passes being put in and no rider giving any quarter.
On the final lap it was the hyper-experienced Bautista who dislodged Razgatlioglu from his lead, going onto the main straight. Keeping his nerve and pace up, the double World Champion walked off with another win, his first since Assen in.
Toprak was just 0.088 seconds behind with Bulega just 0.172 from his team-mate’s win.
Razgatlioglu set a new lap record of 1’47.935 on lap seven.
Behind the leading trio, Race One winner Andrea Iannone (Team GoEleven Ducati) was fourth, over 4.6 seconds back, with Garrett Gerloff (Bonovo Action BMW) in the outer edges of his slipstream in fifth.
Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Ducati) placed sixth from top Honda rider once again, Iker Lecuona (HRC Honda) in seventh.
Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) led home a loose seven rider midfield group, taking eighth place for himself – with Xavi Vierge (HRC Honda) in ninth and Scott Redding (Bonovo Action BMW) tenth.
This race delivered Bautista his 62nd career WorldSBK race win.

WorldSSP Race Two
Adrian Huertas (Aruba Racing Ducati) lost some ground to the chasing Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team Ducati) in the ongoing battle for the 2024 WorldSSP Championship crown, after a hot 15-lap battle at Motorland.
Montella had a resurgent win in Race Two, after finishing only fourth in Race One, outpacing Stefano Manzi (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) by almost two seconds. This was Montella’s sixth win of 2024.
A forceful Jorge Navarro (Orelac Racing VerdNatura Ducati) took a podium finish from Valentin Debise (Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha). Huertas was fifth in the end after a difficult race for the recently dominant Spaniard.
The top five were all within 2.789 seconds of each other at the chequered flag.
Tom Booth-Amos (PTR Triumph) had another positive outcome in sixth place, ahead of the MV of Marcel Schrötter (MV Agusta Reparto Corse).
Lucas Mahias (GMT94 Yamaha) was eighth and Federico Caricasulo (Motozoo ME AIR Racing MV Agusta) ninth. The top ten was completed by Ten Kate Yamaha rider Glenn van Straalen, while the Top Kawasaki rider was Can Öncü (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing), in 11th spot.
In the championship, with two rounds and four races left to run (at Estoril and then finally Jerez) Huertas leads with 370 points, Montella has 329 and Manzi 324.

WorldSSP Race One
Adrian Huertas (Aruba Racing Ducati) took a home win for himself and a welcome win for his team in the first WorldSSP Race.
He was almost two seconds up on the Pata Ten Kate Yamaha of Stefano Manzi, with another Yamaha rider, Valentin Debise (Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha) in third, one place ahead of championship challenger Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team Ducati).
Huertas moved even further away from Montella in the championship lead, but as of Saturday’s Race One, Manzi and Montella are now tied on the same points total – albeit 55 behind Huertas now.
Fifth in the opening Aragon race was another Ducati rider, Jorge Navarro (Orelac Racing VerdNatura Ducati).
Lucas Mahias (GMT94 Yamaha) held off his old WorldSSP bike, with Can Öncü (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) aboard, for sixth place.
Federico Caricasulo (Motozoo ME AIR Racing MV Agusta) was eighth, Glenn van Straalen (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) ninth and Bahattin Sofuoglu (MV Agusta Reparto Corse F3 800 RR) tenth.

WorldSBK Race One
An amazingly entertaining and tense opening WorldSBK race at Motorland was chock-full of incident and drama, and needed two starts to get completed as finally a 17-lap race, not the planned 18-lapper.
First off, Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Ducati) had his engine blow on the first lap, high-siding him as his back tyre got coated in oil and then eventually bringing out the red flag to halt the race.
The 17-lap restart reformed but was without pole man Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati).
His bike had suffered an engine problem and he had to pull out.
From the off Andrea Iannone (Team GoEleven Ducati) was in top form and headed the race for all but one lap.
It was his first WorldSBK race win – in his ‘rookie’ season as an Independent Rider, no less – and he became the 19th rider to have won at least one MotoGP and WorldSBK race.
He was even running out of fuel on the last lap, due in part to the high winds which have characterised Motorland’s otherwise sunny weather this weekend.
Returning from injury Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) almost looked like he had never been away.
A worn-out front tyre and the increasing pace of Iannone towards the end of the race on the seriously grippy new track surface meant Razgatlioglu could not make back a full 25 points score on his championship rival Bulega, but 20 points for the runner-up spot was a major reward given that he had only been declared fit to compete for the whole weekend after FP1 on Friday.
Third was the highly competitive Garrett Gerloff (Bonovo Action BMW) who could have been second but for the prowess of Razgatlioglu and the fact that he had to defend Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) from passing him into the final turn.
Iannone was 0.845 seconds ahead of Toprak at the line, but the podium positions were never certain until the flag, with second to fourth almost covered by the proverbial blanket.
Petrucci had an eventually lonely ride to fifth, with Iker Lecuona (HRC Honda) finishing half second up on Alex Lowes (KRT) in sixth place.
Eighth went to Xavi Vierge (HRC Honda), ninth to Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) and tenth to the first ranked Yamaha of Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK Team).

Saturday WorldSBK Superpole
Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) took his third pole position win since he joined WorldSBK this season, setting a new track best of 1’47.840 at the 5.077km long Motorland Aragon circuit in sunny but relatively cool conditions.
He was the lead rider in a four Ducati domination of Superpole qualifying. Morning FP3 session faller Andrea Iannone (Team GoEleven Ducati) was second, reigning champion Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) third and triple Cremona race winner last week, Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Ducati) fourth.
Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) came back to competitive action with a fifth place grid slot, with Alex Lowes (KRT) joining him on the second row of the Race One lineup.
Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK Team)
Was top Yamaha rider in seventh, from Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Ducati) eighth and the top Honda rider, Iker Lecuona (HRC Honda) in ninth place.

Friday WorldSBK
No Superpole qualifying for the WorldSBK riders on Friday at Aragon, unlike their Supersport cousins, but the Free Practice action at a warm Motorland was intense from the start of FP1 to the end of FP2.
Garrett Gerloff (Bonovo Action BMW) was the top rider overall after both free practice sessions, posting a 1:49.017 lap near the end of FP2.
With high winds and some yellow flags out – not to mention an FP2 session that was red flagged then restarted after a crash compromised track safety – some riders were faster in FP1 than FP2, and vice versa.
On a grippy recently resurfaced track, albeit with several patched sections, the return of Toprak Razgatlioglu (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) saw him not just cleared fit to ride, but fastest in FP1 – by almost half a second.
He would rely on his FP1 time to go second overall after FP2.
Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) took his V4-R to third, just one place ahead of his team-mate Alvaro Bautista.
Cremona race weekend triple race winner Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Ducati) was fifth, and despite an early crash in FP2, Xavi Vierge (HRC Honda) was sixth.
The most powerful bikes were, in general, the highest ranked overall on day one, with another Ducati, from Andrea Iannone (Team GoEleven Ducati), taking seventh place and Sam Lowes (ELF Marc VDS Ducati) eighth.
The top ten was rounded out by Iker Lecuona (HRC Honda) and Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team).
No Yamaha or Kawasaki rider made it into the top ten places on day one at Motorland, but Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha) was 11th and Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team) 12th.

Another Superpole win for Adrian Huertas and his Aruba.it Ducati, as he ended up just 0.062 seconds ahead of Lucas Mahias (GMT94 Yamaha) and 0.113 seconds up on long time Superpole leader, Jorge Navarro (Orelac Racing VerdNatura Ducati).
Still a championship hopeful, Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team Ducati) was fourth, with Assen race winner Glenn van Straalen (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing) fifth and top MV runner Marcel Schrötter (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) sixth.
The third row of the grid for Saturday’s first WorldSSP race was headed up by Valentin Debise (Evan Bros Yamaha).
