Nowadays silly season continues throughout the summer and isn’t just bound to a few months post-outdoors. The newest spotlight shines on Max Anstie, the British veteran, as he’s officially left the Firepower Honda team to join the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing outfit.
“It’s not good bye, it’s “see you later”, the Fire Power team posted on Instagram. “Max Anstie and the Firepower Honda Team have achieved remarkable results over the past 24 months. We congratulate Max and we wish him the best with his future endeavors.” Anstie scored his first win with the team last year at the East/West Showdown in East Rutherford, New Jersey, and was a consistent podium finisher that saw him complete the 2023 season third in the 250SX East standings.
With news of his departure also comes the news that Anstie is set to join the Star Racing Yamaha team in a multi-year deal which sees him debut at round five of the Pro Motocross Championship in Southwick, Massachusetts, on June 29.
“This marks a new chapter in my career and one that I’m motivated to take full advantage of,” said Anstie. “I’ve got unfinished business in the United States, especially in Pro Motocross, and I know that Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing will help me tick those boxes. From Southwick on, we’ll start taking steps to understand the YZ250F in order to make a title run in 2025. I’ve never felt more ready.”
“We’re happy to have Max join the team and make his debut with us next weekend at Southwick,” said team manager Jensen Hendler. “We feel he’s a championship contender and will be a great addition to our program. We’re looking forward to seeing what he can do aboard our YZ250Fs the rest of this season and beyond.”
Anstie will race the remaining rounds of Pro Motocross and the SMX Playoffs with the Star Racing Yamaha team.
