Shayna Texter Took Victory on the Latus Motors Triumph
In this week’s Throwback we wind back the clock 10 years to August of 2014 and revisit the AMA Pro Grand National Championship round at Colonial Downs in New Kent, Virginia. The super-thick crushed stone and sand track, combined with its mile-and-a-quarter length, made for the most horsepower hungry track in the series. Some riders even reported running full throttle around the entire track. It was brutal on motors and a lot of them blew that day. This photo shows the start of the second semi-final qualifying race with riders just launching their bikes. On the front row (from l to r) are Jake Johnson (No.5), Shayna Texter (No. 25A), Bradley Hazel (No. 41), Wyatt Maguire (No. 16), Michael Bickerton (No. 28P) and Danny Koelsch (No. 93X). You can also see Ben Evans (No. 69F), Shane Fox (No. 11C), Kenny Coolbeth, Jr. (No. 2) and Jerry Steele (No. 64C). Texter used the power of her Latus Motors Triumph Bonneville to score the win in this race. Coolbeth and Koelsch took second and third to also punch their ticket into the AMA Grand National later that day.
