2024 Daytona Vintage Supercross Recap

The Daytona Vintage Supercross gives bikes, racers, and spectators a chance to relive the past.
Immediately following the largest amateur supercross race in the world, the annual Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross, approximately 450 riders dusted off their vintage motorcycles and took to the track. However, many (more like pretty much all the motorcycles) were in pristine condition even though some of those bikes were nearly 50 years old. Most of the bikes seemed too pretty to get dirty, but they are, after all, dirt bikes, and we’re glad their proud owners gave us a chance to get a brief peek of the past.
There were several classes to choose from, ranging from 125cc to Golden Masters. They raced on basically the same track as the pros two days earlier. Of course, some of the jumps were lowered and tamed down. Each class raced twice in a traditional motocross two-moto format, and the classes were broken into six different groups, starting with Vintage through 2008, with the Revolution 2 classes.
The King of Daytona XR 200 race, introduced last year, was back. Brandon Glenn took the win, followed by former pro motocrosser Blake Wharton and Riley Ripper.
Wade Doering won two classes among the 36 that took off from the gate, including the Vintage 50 Masters C and the Evolution Golden Master 1 classes. Another former pro motocrosser, Robbie Horton, also won two classes, topped the Revolution 1 class and the Evolution 1 class.
Shelby Rolen won the Women’s class with a pair of firsts on a KTM, with Landrey Hazen (Yamaha) in second and Kayla Alexander (Honda) in third.CN
