The 13th and 14th rounds of the GT Arena Motocross series took place in Hale Arena for the first of two stops in Kansas City, Missouri. Michael Hicks again came away with the clean sweep of all four main events.
Hicks, the championship leader, rocketed off the line in Friday night’s round 13 and led every lap of both 14-lap main events. His best time of the race was just shy of a half-second better than second place, proving to be crucial on the short 22-second course.
Carter Gordon landed on the box in both races, and a pair of thirds gave him second overall after a close night of racing.
Chase Marquier improved as the night progressed and he used a fifth and a second to take third overall.
Saturday looked to be more of the same as Hicks again went undefeated. Another good start and the fastest lap time of the race were two sure-fire tools he used to lead all 29 laps of the evening. Ben Nelko came back with a vengeance on Saturday night and nearly ruined Hicks’s hopes of a perfect night. He stayed close to Hicks and even knocked the gap down to under one second. Still, a pair of second places gave him second overall for round 14.
Mike Alessi also improved his result and scored a third in the final race of the weekend. He claimed the final spot on the box with a fourth and a third.CN
