Honda Support Rider Finds Some Serious Lean Angle
In this week’s Throwback we dial the Wayback Machine to March of 1982 and land in the Houston Astrodome. Raiders of the Lost Ark was burning up the movie box office, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts topped the music charts with “I Love Rock N Roll”, the Falklands War was making headlines, and a little baby boy was born that week in Kurri Kurri, Australia, named Chad Reed. The Supercross doubleheader in the Astrodome saw Floridian Steve Martin feeling supremely confident in his Honda, its tires, and the berm on the side of the track. Photographer extraordinaire Mark Kariya perfectly captured on Kodak Tri-X film, the moment when Martin and his Honda were at maximum lean angle. Steve’s so far over the side number plate is practically dragging ground! Now, 41 years later we get to enjoy that moment thanks to Throwback Thursday.
