Suzuki has today released details of the bike designed to go against the BMW S 1000 XR and Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ in the all-new 2024 GSX-S1000GX+.
Based off the GSX-S1000 GT+ we reviewed last year, the GX+ differs significantly by the use of a Bosch six-axis IMU and Suzuki’s first electronic suspension fitted to a production motorcycle.
The hardware consists of the Showa SFF-CA inverted fork and BFRC-lite rear shock mated to the IMU, which then works in conjunction with the Suzuki Floating Ride Control system that monitors weight distribution of the bike in real-time and adjusts itself accordingly.
There’s also the Suzuki Velocity Dependent Control algorithm that adjusts damping according to speed, reducing front-end pitch under braking.
As for the rider modes, Suzuki’s given you three options—Active, Basic and Comfort—each with its own preset power/throttle mode, TC level, and suspension stiffness. There’s also a custom mode where the rider can go in and set each parameter how they like.
The electronics are adjusted via a new 6.5 inch TFT that has smartphone connectivity, USB charging port and the bike runs LED lights.
The motor is the same 999cc inline-four you get in the GT+ and the nakedbike GSX-S1000, with Suzuki claiming 150hp at 11,000 rpm and 78 lb-ft at 9250 rpm. The six-speed gearbox is also fitted with a two-way quickshifter and a slip and assist clutch.
Moving onto the chassis, it’s the standard Suzuki aluminum twin-spar design with a steel trellis subframe. The rider triangle has changed pretty dramatically from the GT+, with wider handlebars set 2.2 inches closer to the rider, 33.3 inch rider seat height that’s 0.6-inch thicker and flatter, 0.4 inch thicker and one inch wider passenger seat, slightly lower footpegs thanks to increased ground clearance and a more upright ride position. A three-stage adjustable windscreen has also been fitted to improve comfort on long rides. The footpegs, handlebars and mirrors have been rubber mounted to help take out some of the vibrations.
The 2024 Suzuki GSX-S100GX+’s MSRP is $18,499 in Pearl Matte Shadow Green and will arrive in early Spring 2024.
