Pickerington, OH (October 12, 2023) — The American Motorcyclist Association announced that Sean Butterman, Bronson Pearce and Nicky Reimer will compete on the 2023 United States Supermoto of Nations Team. The trio of riders will compete against the wealth of international talent at the 2023 FIM Supermoto of Nations event in Castelletto di Branduzzo, Italy, on Oct. 15.
“Sean, Bronson and Nicky perfectly embody what’s needed to compete at the highest levels of racing,” AMA Director of Racing Mike Pelletier said. “We’re thrilled to have them aboard the U.S. Supermoto of Nations team this year with the opportunity to bring home some hardware back to the States.”
This is the first time the United States has appeared in the competition since 2014, in which the U.S. finished in 15th place. As Team USA makes a return to the Supermoto of Nations this year, Reimer hopes it will signal the United States having a consistent presence at the event on a yearly basis.
“I’m really excited to have a USA Team in SMoN again,” Reimer, a Rossmoor, Calif. native, said. “I hope this team will help build an opportunity for the up-and-coming generation of AMA racers to compete worldwide.”
Reimer, Butterman and Pearce spent the 2023 AMA Supermoto season as fierce competitors, with Reimer and Butterman battling at the top of the leaderboard throughout the campaign and Pearce registering podium performances in his two races on the circuit. Reimer ultimately claimed the 2023 AMA Supermoto title while landing on the podium in each race during the campaign. Butterman finished second in the title race, falling 24 points shy of Reimer.
Butterman, an AMA Supermoto veteran and native of Rio Rancho, N.M., relishes the opportunity to compete against the world’s stiffest competition as a member of Team USA.
“I’m honored to be on team USA and represent my country, and the AMA, for the Supermoto of Nations,” Butterman said. “Supermoto is such a unique, yet universal style of racing filled with some of the most talented motorcycle racers in the world. I’m beyond excited to race against a lot of the best guys to ever do it this year in Italy.”
Pearce is a multi-faceted competitor, showcasing his talents in the AMA Supermoto, FIM S1GP and American Flat Track circuits in 2023. The Bakersfield, Calif., native secured his first national victory of his career this season, claiming the win during the fourth round of the AMA Supermoto season in Sturgis, S.D. on Aug. 8.
While finding success stateside, Pearce has also built up competitive callouses against Supermoto’s fiercest competition in the FIM Supermoto World Championship — operating alongside Reimer as the only two Americans on the circuit.
“I’m very excited for this amazing opportunity to be a part of and represent Team USA for Supermoto of Nations,” Pearce said. “This has been a lifelong dream of mine to not only represent Team USA but to come to Europe to race the fastest supermoto racers in the world!”
At this year’s competition, The United States seeks to end France’s streak of eight-straight gold medals at the Supermoto of Nations.
