Canadian Trevitt Held Off Americans Michael Barnes and Rick Kirk for the Win
In this week’s Throwback we dial back the wayback machine to March of 1991 and the CCS races that opened Bike Week at Daytona International Speedway. Captured here was a great battle in the Expert Lightweight race. Three pros were going at it in this race, with Canadian Andrew Trevitt (No. 231) leading American standouts Rick Kirk (No. 9X) and Michael Barnes (No. 2). Trevitt held on to take the win over Barnes and Kirk in that order. Trevitt later said this particular 1990 Yamaha TZ250, tuned by his brother Stephen, was the best racebike he ever had, and he won tons of races on it during the three seasons he campaigned it.
