Chris Carr Came Through to Win the Flat Track Classic in central Illinois
In this week’s Throwback we rewind the clock 25 years to September of 1998 and the historic Springfield Mile held at the Illinois State Fairgrounds. This shot early in the national shows Ronnie Jones (No. 16) leading the way in the tightly packed group. Behind Jones are defending series champ Scott Parker (No. 1), Will Davis (No. 21), Dan Butler (No. 22) and Chris Carr (No. 4) behind Parker, Rich King (No. 80), Steve Morehead (No. 42), Joe Kopp (No. 43), Jay Springsteen (No. 9), Davey Durelle (No. 58K), Dan Stanley (No. 10), Shaun Russell (No. 65Z), Terry Poovey (No. 18), Brett Landes (No. 41) and others. Carr worked his way to the front by the end of the 25-lap national to score the victory by 2-10ths of a second over Rich King and Dan Butler.
