Erik Kehoe and Jeff Emig Battle for the Top Spot
In this week’s Throwback we travel back in time to 1991 and the Steel City AMA 125cc Motocross National in Delmont, Pennsylvania. In this shot you see Erik Kehoe (No. 33) and Jeff Emig (No. 18) battling for the lead on the inside line. Just behind that pair is Jeremy McGrath (No. 125), who was competing in his first full season of the outdoor nationals. Coming around the outside are Cliff Palmer (No. 65), Tallon Vohland (No. 19) and Brian Swink (No. 42). Somewhat hidden in the shot is defending series champ Guy Cooper. You can just make out Cooper on the No. 1 Suzuki behind McGrath. It was Cooper who came through with a 2-2 moto score to take the overall 125cc National victory that day at Steel City. It was the start of a three race winning streak for Cooper.
