Some exciting news on the cusp of the 2023 X Games taking place this week as Josh Sheehan is set to ride the Stark VARG electric dirt bike. Sheehan, a multi-time medalist, is slated to compete in both the Best Whip and Best Trick events where he plans on doing a double-backflip combination. You can see the streaming schedule for this year’s Moto X events here as well as our first ride test on the Stark Varg here.
From Stark Future – The X Games have always operated on the edge of ‘game-changing’ status. The events, the athletes, the media coverage, and the sheer popularity and demographics mark the Action sports contest as one of the most innovative spectacles to emerge on the sports entertainment landscape. The trend for breaking the trend will continue this weekend (July 22nd-23rd) in Ventura, California as three-time Gold Medal Freestyler, Josh Sheehan, will put all the power and handling attributes of the new Stark VARG electric motocrosser into battle against combustion-engined counterparts.
For the first time in the near-thirty-year history of the X Games, the ‘Best Trick’ and ‘Best Whip’ contests will be silenced by the silence of the segment-busting performance of the Stark VARG. The bike, released in the spring of 2023 and currently shipping as the launch model of Spain-based company Stark Future, represents the new pinnacle of electric motorcycle technology, boasting unrivaled acceleration, precise control, and a sustainable, zero-emission design
The link of the two ‘S’s – Stark and Sheehan – promises to bring a head-turning ingredient to the already awesome X Games tournament, which is set to take place on the U.S. west coast and also in Japan for the second time. The 37-year-old Aussie is a signature name in the FMX world and has been ever since he spiralled to attention in 2007. He has bested the best at X Games three times, from 2014 to 2016, and collected 11 other medals. Josh has achieved distinction for the invention and creativity of his high-flying exploits.
“My first X Games on an electric bike and I’m hoping to ‘medal’ with a double flip combo to show the world how capable the Stark VARG is,” he said. “I’m excited to be a part of the changing industry, both the mind-blowing electric performance and also the quieter, positive effects electric has on our environment and the communities.”
“We are incredibly proud to have Josh as part of the Stark family and to support him as he takes on this challenge at X Games,” said Anton Wass, CEO of Stark Future. “This partnership signifies our commitment to pushing the boundaries of electric mobility and showcasing the incredible potential of the VARG. Josh embodies the spirit of innovation and fearlessness, and we’re confident that his performances will inspire.”
