Tommy Bridewell took the 2023 King of Brands crown after posting two wins and a sixth in the latest round of the British Superbike Championship, July 22-23.
Ryan Vickers (Lami OMG Racing Yamaha) took a wet weather 0.15 of a second win over former Moto3 World Champion Danny Kent (Lovell Kent Racing Honda) and Christian Iddon (Oxford Products Racing Ducati) in the Sprint race.
However, from there on out, it was all Bridewell, as the BeerMonster Ducati rider took a 2.4-second win over Iddon and Kent in race two and prevailed in an extremely close race three, defeating teammate Glenn Irwin by 0.13 of a second, with Vickers returning to the podium, 0.23 of a second off Bridewell’s winning pace.
“It’s been a great weekend in all aspects,” Bridewell said. “To win one BSB race is an achievement so to win two in a day shows how confident I am and how I feel within myself, with the bike and with the team.
“In the final race, I knew Glenn would be there with me but it’s testament to the hard work we’re doing on Friday and Saturday that I could hold him off and it’s all about maintaining the good momentum we have. To be crowned the Monster Energy King of Brands is great!”
Bridewell now leads the championship on 258 to Irwin’s 223.5 with Ryde third on 181. CN
