Mark Barnett Scored the Qualifying Race Victory in Pasadena
In this week’s Throwback we dial back the clock 40 years to 1983 and an event that was titled the Miller High Life Superbowl of Motocross, held at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. The photo was taken at the start of the second heat race that day. It shows Suzuki’s Scott Burnworth (No. 16) living up to his nickname of “Burner” by charging out of the turn with the lead. You can see most of the field in this shot and there is some serious talent in the group. Pictured are Johnny O’Mara (No. 4), Mark Barnett (No. 2), Jeff Hicks (No. 37), Dean Cates (No. 67), Micky Dymond (No. 490), David Taylor (No. 231), Brian Myerscough (No. 42), Chris Heisser (No. 34), Kevin Davis (No. 50), Steve Martin (No. 21) and Dan Turner (No. 91). It was “The Bomber”, Mark Barnett coming through to win this heat.
