For the second race in a row, the MIE Racing team of Sandra Gomez and Jorge Zaragoza took the top step of the podium in the FIM E-Xplorer World Cup. While the first win was on a traditional motocross track in Spain, this second win was on a man-made track at the Crans Montana resort in the Swiss Alps.

The Spanish duo of Gomez and Zaragoza, riding the EMX XF30 created by Japan’s Midori Moriwaki, were the class of the field for most of the action-packed event but the final was a close race with Norway’s Vilde Mari Holt and Canadian Spenser Wilton of the Seven-EM Stewart Racing who were delighted to take the second-place podium slot.

“It was very different from the Round One in Catalunya,” said Jorge Zaragoza. “I am a motocross rider so it was challenging for me here with the logs and the obstacles, but Sandra, my team mate, really helped me with this format and we talked a lot and combined our experience to great effect. The whole event has been amazing. It was certainly one of the best races I have ever won thanks to this stunning location. It has been a fantastic two days.”

“In this championship, we don’t know the tracks until we get here,” said Sandra Gómez. “I loved the lay out and it suited me. But more than anything it was amazing to be racing so high up in the Swiss Alps with Montblanc and the Matterhorn in the background.”

As for the second-place team of James Stewart’s Seven-EM Stewart. “This is unbelievable for me,” said Vilde Mari Holt. “To race for James Stewart is incredible and to be here in this setting in a World Cup event is fantastic. It has been an incredible experience.” Wilton added, “Insane weekend in Switzerland”.

The event format utilizes head-to-head match ups and the Maddwill powered by EMBX team (owned by Robbie Maddison) of Switzerland’s Sandra Keller and the UK’s Dylan Woodcock came out on top of the “Small Final” to earn the final podium spot.

“This has been a fantastic two days. What a chance to ride for such a team and to finish on the rostrum is fantastic. I hope to be back,” said Woodcock, who was a late replacement rider along with his teammate. CN
