Trio battles just inside top-10 early in the race 18 years ago at Daytona International Speedway
In this week’s Throwback we dial back the clock 18 years to the 2005 Daytona Supercross and premier 250cc class main event. This photo shows a trio of riders battling for position just inside the top-10 a couple laps into the 20-lap final. Out front is Sean Hamblin on a Pro Circuit Kawasaki leading American Suzuki’s Sebastien Tortelli and Tim Ferry on his factory Yamaha. By the checkered flag Tim Ferry worked his way up to win the battle of this trio of riders, finishing ninth, a little over two seconds ahead of Hamblin in 10th. Tortelli had problems early and was out of the race after three laps and was credited with 20th. Yamaha’s Chad Reed won the race that night.
