Rodney Smith and Jeff Emig Out Front Framed Perfectly by Layers of Fans
In this week’s Throwback we travel back 33 years to May of 1990 and that year’s AMA 125cc Motocross National at High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania. Photographer Nate Rauba found a unique angle that showed a huge crowd layered across different sections of the track. On track you see Rodney Smith with the holeshot railing around the outside on his Suzuki. Jeff Emig also got a great start and is running the inside line on his Kawasaki. Other riders in the shot include Denny Stephenson (27), Erik Kehoe (19), Guy Cooper (4) and Tallon Vohland (80). Just coming into the frame on the far left with what appears to be a cautious start is Honda’s Jean-Michel Bayle (22). No worries for Bayle though as he worked his way to the front in both motos to score the overall win that day. Vohland and Emig finished second and third respectively.
