Buell Release Super Cruiser With RSD Rennie Scaysbrook | February 13, 2023 Buell Motorcycle Company’s latest concept machine was unveiled to the media in Long Beach on Friday, February 10 in the new Super Cruiser. Designed by renowned custom bike creator and racer, Roland Sands, the Super Cruiser is a mix of custom bike cruiser design and superbike power by taking the company’s 180hp, 1190cc water-cooled V-twin and mashing it into a street trellis cruiser chassis with a claimed wet weight 450 lb. RSD’s West Coast cruiser ethos can easily be spotted in the new Buell Super Cruiser. “Building a cruiser was something we always contemplated,” said Bill Melvin, CEO of Buell Motorcycle Co. “The market is full of American manufacturers known mostly for big, heavy bikes—not fast, hot ones like the famous V-twins of the ’30s. Our Buell Super Cruiser will be the hottest bike on the market. Period.” The Super Cruiser runs its footpegs more rearward than a traditional cruiser and also utilizes the traditional Buell perimeter-mounted front brake disc mated to a four-piston caliper with 17-inch wheels and a swingarm off the 1190 Hammerhead sportbike. “Ground clearance, bar position, and comfortable seating and foot positions are key to getting the cruiser look with sport bike handling,” said Sands. “I’ve been working on projects like this for 20-plus years, and this is the first time we’ve been able to build a performance cruiser without the typical V-twin performance compromises of weight and motor width and length,” said Sands. The Super Cruiser is still a concept, but will be production ready by 2025 and Buell is currently taking pre-order deposits on its website. For more Buell news and reviews, click here
