Bolt, the defending champion, won all three feature races, which includes the reverse-start race two. And, also collected the SuperPole race win.
“With three wins and topping SuperPole, it was a great night at the office,” the Brit said. “I knew my speed was good from the off, but in the first two races I seemed to keep tripping myself up. I would get into the lead and then just make a mistake or judge the lapped traffic wrong. Thankfully I was able to recover each time, but I really wanted to do better. I feel like race three was my best of the night. Mistakes were minimal and I was able to ride my lines with confidence. It was a great way to end the night!”
Beta’s Jonny Walker was second overall with 2-2-3 results.
There was at least one American on the podium after each race. FactoryONE Sherco riders Cody Webb and Cooper Abbott shared the spotlight on the night. Webb started the night off with a third in race one, while he and Abbott traded positions in race two. Webb had the best race of his night in the third outing where he finished second, splitting winner Bolt from Walker. Webb was credited with third overall.
“My mistake in moto one cost me a better overall position tonight,” said Webb. “I had the pace and this track really suited me well. I was in a big battle with Billy in moto two, and I thought I was going to be able to break his moto win streak. He had a bobble in the matrix, and I thought that was my opportunity, but I came up short on one log and had to pull a trials skill to stay on the bike. Overall, I am happy on the night, but I know I can battle for the win.”
Abbott was fourth overall. “I am happy with my result from tonight,” he said. “I am headed in the right direction continually improving my placement. I loved this track. It seemed to suit Cody and I a bit better. It was like we were back home at an EnduroCross. A few small mistakes cost me in the end as I was up front battling in the top three each moto. I am going to work hard to clean that up to hopefully get my first SuperEnduro podium. I know I have the pace; I just have to ride clean.”
After three rounds, Bolt has a comfortable lead in the championship, 184 points to Walker’s 158. Webb is third with 124 points. CN
