In this week’s Throwback we dial back the clock 34 years to June of 1989 and the AMA 600cc National Dirt Track Championship Series at the Peoria Motorcycle Club Clubgrounds. The Prince of Peoria, Chris Carr, was nearly unbeatable at the legendary Peoria TT. This AMA 600 National was traditionally held early summer and served as a prelude to the big event, the Peoria TT AMA Grand National that came later in August. In this race Harley-Davidson factory rider Carr finished ahead of talented AMA Junior class rider Andy Tresser (left). Aaron Hill (right) rounded out the podium finishers scoring third by edging Rodney Farris on the final lap. Carr kept on a roll and came back later that summer to win the Peoria TT Grand National.
