Smith raced an ATK to Victory
In this week’s Throwback we dial back the calendar to Y2K and that year’s Formula USA Sacramento Mile. This photo shows Bryan Smith (84X), Dan Stanley (10), Kenny Noyes (19E) and JR Schnabel heading into turn one during the Formula USA Pro Singles final. Smith would go on to win the race on his TLC Racing ATK. Little did anyone know at the time, but the victory for the 16-year-old Smith would serve as a precursor of the Michigan rider’s domination of the Sacramento Mile in the coming years. Stanley finished second on a Suzuki DR-Z400-based machine and Noyes was third on a Husaberg.
