2024 Dakar Rally Results Stage 12
American Ricky Brabec (Honda) has taken a second Dakar Rally crown after finishing the 12th and final stage seventh, ensuring he finished 10m53s ahead of Hero Motorsports Ross Branch in the overall standings.
Brabec and Branch were the stars of this year’s Dakar, Botswanan Branch leading for the first week of the rally and Californian Brabec taking over in the second week.
“It’s a nice way to start the year with a victory,” Brabec said. “It wasn’t easy. The course was really tough. The competition was tough. Ross and my own team kept me on my toes, but not just me, I think we were keeping everyone on each other’s toes. It was definitely a fight to the end for everyone. I’m really happy we’re all here and all safe and we can go home. Overall, it was a good rally. This time was a little bit different. I feel like this one was more earned.
“This time was a lot tougher. In 2020, we had a big gap from the get-go. Here, I think me and Ross spent three days with a couple of seconds difference. It was a tight race for all of us. I think between first and third there are eleven minutes or something, whatever Adrien got, but it’s been a tight race and ten minutes is not a big gap here on the rally. It’s been tight. I had two good days, two opportunities to make a good push, but also stage 11 was a scare factor for me because I knew Ross was starting behind me, 18 minutes behind, and if he caught me it would be over. Stage 11 was hard for me, but I stayed focused, got to the finishing line and didn’t lose too much time, so I’m really happy with this and I’m really happy for the team. I’m happy for all of us, we did an excellent job all of the two weeks. I think number 9 will be my lucky number from now on.”
The man known as the Kalahari Ferrari, Branch thus becomes the first African to stand on the Dakar podium since Alfie Cox took third back in 2005. The 2024 Dakar Rally marks the first podium place for an Indian manufacturer and the first time since 1993 that a European brand has not finished on the overall podium.
“I feel on top of the world,” Branch said. “It was a really long rally, probably one of the toughest ones I’ve ever done. Hats off to Ricky, he rode an outstanding race. It was really close up until a couple of days ago when he made a big push and got a gap on me a little bit. It was awesome. It’s so good to race these guys, good to be up here. I’m so happy for the team, they deserve to be happy because they’ve put a lot of work in and for such a young team, it’s a great result. I’m super happy to be up here. It’s been their goal to succeed since the team started and they’ve been working so hard to get that. I’m the lucky one. I get to go out there and ride my bike and have some fun. They have to do all the hard work back at home with all the development of the bike and everything. I’m just really happy and proud of them. I’m super happy for them as a team and as a country to be here. I definitely need to improve in the camel grass. I felt that we lost out a lot on those two days, but I’ve just got to go home and work on myself, it’s just me. Ricky was good every single day. He didn’t put a foot wrong during the whole rally. He deserves the win. He outrode me and was better than me this year, but I’ve got another eleven months to train harder and work better to come back stronger next year”.
Stage 12 was taken by Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Kevin Benavides, the Argentine holding off the man he battled for the win against in last year’s rally, teammate Toby Price. Luciano Benavides made it two Benavides boys on the Stage 12 podium in third.
Adrien Van Beveren made it two factory Hondas in the top three overall in what was the Frenchman’s first Dakar podium after nine years of trying. Thanks to their Stage 12 heroics, Kevin Benavides and Toby Price round out the top five overall.

2024 Dakar Rally Results Stage 11
The two top riders in the 2024 Dakar Rally topped the results on stage 11. Hero’s Ross Branch took the stage win on his Hero motorcycle but was just 32 seconds ahead of Honda Ricky Brabec, the rider he is chasing for the overall lead.
“It was good, I enjoyed it from start to finish, some really rocky places that were sketchy. All in all it was a great ride. I didn’t make any navigation mistakes so I am happy,” said Branch at the finish.
Brabec won stage 10 so he had the added challenge of leading out on this 420 km stage 11 that was expected to be one of the most challenging in this year’s Dakar. The Californian led from the start to the finish of the stage, which earned him five minutes and 45 seconds of crucial bonus time. He was joined at the front late in the stage by his Honda teammate Adrien Van Beveren, which allowed him to also share in some bonus time to try to close the gap on Branch in the overall standings.
Brabec held onto the overall lead and holds a 10m22s gap over Branch with just one stage remaining.
“I would say today was my best ride of the rally,” Brabec said. “The first goal on the Dakar is always to make it to the rest day and then the next goal is to make it to the finish. If you finish the Dakar, that’s a win. It’s not easy, especially for the bikes because we’re up at three in the morning and we’re riding all morning, we’re riding all day and we’re getting back to the bivouac late. But finishing the Dakar is a win in my book and if you can win the Dakar it’s legendary.”
Van Beveren consolidated his third-place overall ranking with his third-place finish on stage 11. The Frenchman is 14m31s behind Brabec and just over three minutes behind Branch.
Husqvarna’s Luciano Benevides finished fourth on the day and KTM’s Toby Price rounded out the top five.
Honda rider Nacho Cornejo, who has been in podium contention lost over 25 minutes today to fall well behind the top three but maintained fourth overall but is now 30m44s behind Brabec.
TVS Sherco rider Harith Noah took over the lead in the Rally 2 category. The rider from India has a nearly six minute lead over Frenchman Romain Dumontier, who has led the class for nearly the entire rally.

2024 Dakar Rally Results Stage 10
The 10th stage of Dakar 2024 was the first one in which Ricky Brabec took the gold and took another step towards securing a second Dakar Rally win.
The Californian worked with Honda teammate Adrien Van Beveren throughout the 371 km stage, the Frenchman opening the road with Brabec in tow. Brabec was unfazed by riding at the front and acquired over two minutes in bonuses and now has a cushion of nearly eleven minutes in the overall standings to Ross Branch.
Brabec would eventually triumph by a mere two seconds from teammate ‘Nacho’ Cornejo with Van Beveren third for a Honda clean sweep of the podium.
“The day was good although the navigation wasn’t easy,” Brabec said. “In the first 50 km I was riding into the sun so that was difficult and then once I’d caught Adrien we rode together the whole way. We made some little mistakes here and there, but we came out in a good position for tomorrow and the last day. With two days left we have a little bit of a lead so let’s see what happens tomorrow.”
Branch’s seventh place on Stage 10 sees the Botswanan drop 10m54s behind Brabec in the overall standings in second place. Van Beveren and Cornejo are all still within a chance of victory with 13m48s covering the top four with two stages to go.
“I gave my everything. I made a couple of stupid, little mistakes,” Branch said. “We lost a bit of time, but we had a good day. It was fun. I enjoyed it. Riding with Toby and “Quinty” was fun. I look up to the guys and I really respect them, so riding with them and having a bit of fun is what it’s about. I enjoyed it. Ricky’s stepped up the level and he’s doing well. It’s gonna be hard to catch him, but we’ve still got one more long day. We’ll see how it goes. You never stop believing. The finish is only when the chequered flag finishes at the end of the race. We’ll keep on fighting right till the end and who knows, maybe we’ll get lucky. This is racing, anything can happen in 100 metres, so I’ll just give it my best shot and see what happens.”
Stage 10 was notable by the exceptional performance of TVS Sherco rider Harith Noah. The Indian took a career-best result of fifth leading for much of the stage, only to lose out in the final 50 km to the flag. Noah took the win in the Rally 2 category as a result.

2024 Dakar Rally Results Stage 9
Adrien Van Beveren put on another spectacular performance in the 2024 Dakar to take the Stage 9 win on the factory Honda.
The Frenchman, who threw away a win on Stage 8 in a fruitless attempt to start further back today, rode the 436km stage perfectly, navigating the expedition back to AlUla 32s ahead of teammate Rocky Brabec, the American taking what could be a decisive second place with chief race rival Ross Branch losing 06m59s due to navigational errors.
Pablo Quintanilla made it three factory Hondas in the top three, finishing 4m19s off teammate Van Beveren in third.
“It was a tough day but a good day,” Van Beveren said. “I finally opened almost 400 km of the stage. Kevin was following and it was good support to take sometimes. It was really, really difficult today. I tried my best, I really tried to be consistent and I think it was a good stage. I gave my all. I have no regrets for today”.
Australia’s Toby Price (KTM) took fourth on Stage 9, while Branch finished fifth, ensuring he has a mountain of time to climb on the last three stages if he’s to wrestle top spot from Brabec.
“Today, I lost a lot of time, but it was tough for me, I couldn’t get going, I couldn’t find a flow,” Branch said. I made a couple of stupid mistakes, but that’s the first bad day of the rally for me, so we’ll take it. At least I’m not opening tomorrow, so maybe we can push again tomorrow. We’ll see how it goes. You have those bad days. I tried to manage it and tried to lose the least time possible and we’ll have to see tonight if anything changes. The pressure is kicking in now for everybody. It’s crunch time and I would have liked to have been up there a little bit closer today, but that’s racing. You can’t have a perfect day every day. You make some mistakes and you just have to try and manage it. I’ve just been trying to keep a cool head for the rest of the afternoon. I had a few moments, so I’m just happy to tick another day off on the Dakar and let’s focus on tomorrow.”

2024 Dakar Rally Results Stage 8
A stage of two halves in which the riders first navigated deep sand and dunes before then switching to rocky terrain for the last 100km saw the Benavides brothers, Kevin and Luciano, the top performers.
The win would go to elder brother Kevin on the Red Bull Factory Racing KTM, 31s up on Luciano’s Husqvarna with Honda’s Adrien Van Beveren taking another stage podium in third.
“It has been a really good day today – I really enjoyed the ride,” Benavides said. “The stage was split into two with the first part more sandy tracks and dunes, but with a lot of navigation. And the second part was more stone and mountains. The two guys opening the stage – my brother and Nacho (Cornejo) – did a really good job, but I was able to catch them both by the end. I’m so proud to win the stage and have a 1-2 with my brother. It means I’ll be opening tomorrow, so hopefully I will do a good job. I’ll give it my all as always.”
Honda’s Ricky Brabec led much of the stage but eased off in the latter portions to take seventh and have some solid tracks to follow on Stage 9 tomorrow. His rival for the overall title, Ross Branch (Hero) finished one place behind Brabec in eighth and now sits 42s behind the American in the overall rankings in second place.
“I didn’t want to start too far away from Ross tomorrow so I had to play a little bit of cat and mouse with him,” Brabec said. “I caught him early on so stuck with him all day, then at the refueling point I saw some times and I was winning. I let Ross take over and open the way to the finish line as we had to play smart today and I didn’t want him starting behind me tomorrow. It was still a good day to finish seventh and I’ll continue to have fun out there.”
The rally was marred by the death of Spaniard Carls Falcon today. Falcon suffered had crashed on the second stage of this year’s race from Al Henakiyah to Al Duwadimi at the 448km mark and was airlifted to hospital in Al Duwadimi.
Falcon was then repatriated to Spain where he succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

2024 Dakar Rally Results Stage 7
Honda’s “Nacho” Cornejo has come home 03m12s head of Husqvarna’s Luciano Benavides after an absolute monster of a stage for Dakar 2024.
The seventh stage of this year’s rally saw competitors cover a mammoth 874 kilometers, with 483 of those k’s counting towards the overall time.
“I was a bit off balance at the beginning,” Cornejo said after his third stage win of Dakar 2024. “I struggled a bit with my bike and had a silly fall. Then, I regained my mental composure and thought, ‘All right, let’s go on the attack’. I pushed on, and in the end, I did a good job. Everyone’s pushing hard, so I’ll take the race day by day. I’ll fight every day to try and make up some time.”
Kevin Benavides (KTM) made it two Benavides boys on the Stage 7 podium in third.
But the talk was also centered on the battle for the overall rally lead between Ricky Brabec (Honda) and Ross Branch (Hero). Stage 7 saw Branch battling front brake issues but the Botswanan still forged 01m10s ahead of Brabec by the stage’s end, meaning the gap between the two in the overall standings is the smallest possible—one second! One second after over 32 hours of racing. Incredible stuff on this year’s Dakar.
“The day after a rest day is never easy,” Brabec said. “We started off this morning third, so it was a bit tricky. All the guys I wanted to beat were behind me, so it’s been a tough day. I haven’t had a rear brake since like kilometer 40 or 50, so it’s been a slow day for me but, overall, I’m happy with how the day went. Not probably the result that I wanted to see, but I’m still 100 percent ready to go, so the next five days is going to be a good one.”
Nacho is far from out of it in third, 06m48s behind Brabec with Adrien Van Beveren (Honda), ninth today on Stage 7, still within a long shout of the win, 14m39s off P1.
From there, it’s a battle for the minor placings as Kevin Benavides sits 24 minutes off the lead in fifth ahead of teammate Toby Price, 31 minutes behind Brabec.
Jacob Argubright (KTM) continues his good run of form by taking 19th on stage, 42m26s off Cornejo. The two remaining Americans, Weston Carr (Husqvarna)and Kyle McCoy (Husqvarna) took 89th and 94th on stage, respectively.

2024 Dakar Rally Results 48 Hour Chrono Stage Part Two
The second half of the marathon 48 Hour Chrono Stage seemed tailor made for Frenchman Adrien Van Beveren (Honda).
The beach race ace made it to bivouac F on the first day of the 48 hour stage, meaning he had only 112km of riding today to bring home the stage win, his first of Dakar 2024 and his first as a factory Honda rider. He did exactly that, bettering the ever-improving two-time Dakar champion Toby Price (KTM) by 04m13s in what was the best performance in the rally so far for the Australian.
“This stage was really important for me, since we’d known what it would entail I knew that I could do well here in the dunes and make a difference,” Van Beveren said. “I went fast at the beginning but emptied the first fuel tank really early so I had to change my riding style and make it smoother to try to improve my fuel economy. I got into a good rhythm and to get the win was nice.
“I’m glad I did the 48 Hour Chrono, it was a good experience to tackle this long stage in the dunes. Yesterday we all arrived completely destroyed, it was really physical but I’m glad that we had this opportunity.”
Third on the stage was Californian Ricky Brabec. He finished a touch over five minutes behind teammate Van Beveren but his incredible consistency over the first half of the rally will see the 2020 Dakar champion lead the pack into week two. Long-time leader Ross Branch, fifth on the 48 Hour Chrono, is a mere 51s off Brabec’s pace, while Van Beveren jumps to third overall, 09m21s off leader Brabec.
The 48 Hour Chrono was a bad one for the United States as Skyler Howes bowed out of contention on the first half of the stage due to a mechanical, while compatriot Mason Klein (Kove) suffered yet another engine problem, but this time it was permanent. His Kove refused to start in the morning at the bivouac with a flat battery, a situation he managed to rectify with a little help from Dakar competitors Nasser Al Attiyah, Guelian Chicherit and Harith Noah, but it finally gave up the ghost later that morning, spelling the end of his rally.
Although he’s well out of the overall standings given his time penalty earlier in the rally for failing to finish Stage 3, Jacob Argubright (KTM) is continuing to press on in this year’s rally and scored and excellent 14th on the 48 Hour Chrono stage. He’s moved up to 104th overall, but over 52 hours behind the leader.

2024 Dakar Rally Results: 48 Hour Chrono Stage Part One
Ricky Brabec (Honda) is the new leader of the 2024 Dakar Rally after the first part of the arduous 48 Hour Chrono stage that takes riders into the heart of The Empty Quarter, which will total a taxing 625km by the end of tomorrow.
The 48 Hour Chrono is a new format for this year’s rally, where riders were required to stop at one of seven bivouacs dotted on the route by 4:00 pm. The factory Honda team again were the most well sorted of the bike field, with dune specialist Adrien Van Beveren taking fastest over the first part of the 48 Hour Chrono, although the official results will be posted as a combined total of parts one and two of the rally tomorrow. Van Beveren has a short 112 km to complete the stage tomorrow.
One of the big challenges in the dunes is managing fuel consumption, which is an area Stage 5 winner Pablo Quintanilla fell foul. The factory Honda rider ran out of fuel 10km before the first refueling station, losing over 1h40m in the process with his hopes of overall victory now gone.
Brabec trailed home Van Beveren on the first half of the stage and now leads the virtual overall by 2m48s from Hero’s Ross Branch.
Unfortunately for Skyler Howes (Honda), his Dakar Rally is over after his Honda ground to a halt at kilometer 48, putting an end to his hopes of reaching the finish.
We will post the official results when they become available from the Dakar organizers.
2024 Dakar Rally Results: Stage 5
The Chilean charge has continued at Dakar 2024, with Pablo Quintanilla (Honda) the latest to fly the flag and joining his compatriot and factory Honda teammate “Nacho” Cornejo as a stage winner.
Quintanilla triumphed on the 118 km special from Al Salamiya to Al-Hofuf that followed an arduous 508 km road section and saw riders enter the Empty Quarter, a never-ending stretch of sand dunes that saw another of Quintanilla’s teammates, Frenchman Adrien Van Beveren, take second place.
“After two awful days everything fell into place,” Quintanilla said. “I went flat out but it wasn’t easy because the glare of the sun made it hard to see the tracks. It was tough but I managed to set a fast pace and had a great stage. I wasn’t expecting this type of soft sand because I heard it had rained in the last few days, but I had fun anyway on my bike. I’m happy to be in this position ahead of the 48 Hour Chrono, it’ll help me and perhaps unlock some opportunities.”
Australia’s two-time Dakar champion Toby Price (KTM) had his best performance of 2024 so far with third on stage. Price headed Aussie compatriot Daniel Sanders (GasGas), who likewise had a so-far best result in fourth, with Mason Klein emerging from what has been a torrid time on the Chinese Kove with a myriad of mechanical problems to grab the fifth fastest time.
Ross Branch (Hero) has retaken the lead of the rally with the sixth fastest time after erstwhile leader Cornejo finished a distant 13th on stage, dropping him to second overall, a little over a minute behind Branch. Ricky Brabec (Honda), seventh today, holds down third on the overall standings.
Tomorrow marks the first half of the ‘48 Hour Chrono’ stage which will be the biggest test of this year’s event with David Castera, the Dakar Rally organiser, already admitting he won’t be gaining many fans after it. Hidden waypoints will prove to be a navigation nightmare if the fatigued competitors lose their focus.
With a reverse starting order in place from today’s results, Quintanilla will be the one to benefit as he will set off last out of all the RallyGP riders. With a total of 835 km to ride, the special will contribute a hefty 626 km in the Empty Quarter dunes to mark the halfway point of the rally.

2024 Dakar Rally Results: Stage 4
“Nacho” Cornejo (Honda) is the first two-time stage winner of the 2024 Dakar Rally after triumphing on Stage 4. The Chilean notched up his eighth career Dakar stage victory, one that propelled him to the top of the overall standings and Hero Motorsports’ Ross Branch by over a minute. Branch’s three minute lead heading into Stage 4 was shattered by two crashes, thankfully without injury to himself or his machine.
It proved to be an excellent stage for the factory Honda team as Ricky Brabec continued his consistent run of form by taking second behind his teammate, with reigning Dakar champion Kevin Benavides (KTM) third. Branch came home in fourth, a little over five minutes behind Cornejo.
The timed stage was a shorter 299km today but the competitors had to cover a total of 700km between bivouacs, making for a long day in the saddle.
“It was a good stage, it was a mix of terrains and they did say it would be a little bit easier,” Cornejo said. “It felt faster and not as physical as the previous days, but there were some sections of tricky navigation so I had to stay focused. I did some little mistakes at the beginning but then I pushed harder with a good solid pace and finished in a positive way. Tomorrow we start with the dunes so let’s see how it goes.”
Adrien Van Beveren made it three factory Hondas in the top five for Stage 4, finishing 05m25s behind his teammate Cornejo.
Cornejo thus takes over the rally lead, demoting Branch to second by 01m15s. Brabec continues to occupy his top three position in third from Kevin Benavides and Van Beveren rounding out the top five.

2024 Dakar Rally Results: Stage 3
Kevin Benavides (KTM) has taken the third stage of the 2024 Dakar Rally, held over 600 grueling kilometers between Al Duwadimi to Al Salamiya.
The current Dakar champion looked like he might actually take second behind Honda’s Pablo Quintanilla but the Chilean was docked six minutes for repeated speeding infractions in control zones, dropping him to seventh on the stage.
“A much better day for me today,” Benavides said. “It was a long, long stage, but after making a couple of mistakes yesterday, I set off with the plan to focus more on my navigation. It definitely paid off – there were already a lot of tracks on the ground ahead of me, but I concentrated on my roadbook and was able to find a good, solid rhythm over the different types of terrain. I’m happy with my pace today and the result. We have a couple of hours now to work on the bikes and then we head off to the bivouac. I feel good and the bike is in good shape – I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”
Benavides headed home second-placed Ricky Brabec (Honda), the Californian’s consistency ensures he stays in the top three overall in third. Rounding out the top three for Stage 3 was another of the factory Hondas in Adrien Van Beveren while teammate Skyler Howes finally had a good day to take fourth, his best finish so far in the rally.
Ross Branch (Hero) took fifth on Stage 3 and continues to lead the overall classification despite receiving a one minute penalty. Branch leads Jose Ignacio Cornejo Florimo (Honda), Brabec, Quintanilla and Van Beveren.
American privateer Jacob Argubright’s race is over after he suffered a mechanical and had to take the helicopter back to the bivouac. He can still finish the rally if he chooses/has the parts to get his bike going again, but he has been slapped with a 12 hour penalty for taking the chopper ride.
The rally is also over for former two-time Dakar champion Sam Sunderland (GasGas), who’s horror run of rallies continues with his fifth consecutive DNF. Joining Sunderland on the retirees list is Hero’s Sebastien Buhler, who crashed out at the 360 km mark and needed to be airlifted to hospital.
More mechanical drama befell young American Mason Klein. The Kove rider was flying at the beginning of the stage and was leading the virtual standings early on until the mechanical issues halted his progress. He’s still in the race but any hopes of a top finish are long gone.

2024 Dakar Rally Results: Stage 2
The third stage of the 2024 Dakar Rally, a massive 446km test on the road to Al Duwadimi, was a heartbreaker for Mason Klein.
The young American’s decision to opt for the unproven Chinese Kove for the race was a curious one, and his rally is effectively over after his bike broke down at the 46km mark. Klein spent two hours repairing the Kove on the side of the road, rejoining the race but any hopes of an overall podium are now gone.
The stage was won by Honda’s Jose Ignacio Cornejo Florimo, a seventh career Dakar stage victory for the Chilean. Cornejo came home 05m59s ahead of Husqvarna’s Luciano Benavides with Pablo Quintanilla (Honda) making it a South American top three in third.
“It was another tough stage, it was very long with tricky navigation and tracks everywhere so it was easy to make mistakes,” Cornejo said. “I caught the front group and then we rode together which was fun. It’s always nice to push but I did have a crash and Ricky (Brabec) and Ross (Branch) stopped to make sure I was OK before we continued on. Fortunately it wasn’t too bad for me or the bike so I’m happy with the result today, winning stages is always good.”
Sebastian Buhler saved some Hero Motorsports skin with fourth on stage, 06m47s off Cornejo with Ricky Brabec in fifth.
Ross Branch (Hero) continues to lead the Rally after finishing 11th on stage. Cornejo moves up to second from Brabec, Quintanilla and Luciano Benavides completing the top five.

2024 Dakar Rally Results: Stage 1
And just like that, the Dakar bites. Prologue stage winner and early rally leader Tosha Schareina (Honda) is out after crashing at the 240km mark, the Spaniard fracturing his arm in the process.
He was not the only one to go down as Joaquim Rodrigues also crashed out of the rally on his Hero at the 82km marker.
However, Rodrigues’ teammate, Botswanan Ross Branch, kept everything together to take the Stage 1 win, his fourth career Dakar triumph. The man who’s day job is that of an airline pilot came home 10m54s clear of Honda’s Ricky Brabec with Mason Klein (Kove) third, 11m19s behind Branch. The young American Klein chose to open the stage and spent some four hours alone out front creating the path for others to follow and yet still managed to sneak a stage podium in a truly exceptional performance.
Another excellent performance was that of young South African Bradley Cox (KTM), who took a career-best fourth on the stage, 12m54s behind Branch. Jose Ignacio Cornejo Florimo (Honda) rounded out the top five on another of the factory Hondas, 13m43s behind Branch.
A number of pre-race favorites had a stage to forget today with current Dakar champion Kevin Benavides eighth, Daniel Sanders (GasGas) ninth, Sam Sunderland (GasGas) 14th, and Toby Price (KTM) 16th.
Branch now moves into the lead of the Rally, 11m54s ahead of Brabec with Klein in third. Flormio is fourth ahead of Cox in fifth.
