The following is a press release from November 14…
Menifee, CA. (November 14, 2022) – Baja/Desert Champions, AMA, Offroad Motorsports and Trailblazer Hall of Famers Johnny Campbell and Scot Harden have added special rider training and technical seminars to their upcoming Baja Borrego dual-sport ride. Based out of Ocotillo RV Resort on December 9 and 10, the event will be an intimate gathering open to the public and will feature an afternoon of training and technical seminars along with an almost 100-mile-long GPS navigated ride on Saturday, December 10.
“Our Handstands at 100mph Baja/Desert Reunion/Celebration held back on September 24 was a huge success,” stated Scot Harden. “The Baja/Desert motorcycle racing community responded enthusiastically, and we were overwhelmed by the response. Now we turn our attention to our Baja Borrego Dual Sport ride where we’ve planned a very special weekend for all who join us. 100 miles of self-guided GPS dual-sport riding that in many ways will feel like a mini-Dakar coupled with rider training events, seminars and presentations over the weekend.”
“We’ve been hard at work planning this event for over six months now,” commented Johnny Campbell. “While the main event—our ride on Saturday Dec. 10—will be very special, we wanted to create a very intimate, educational environment for everyone that joins us. We want to share as much information and knowledge as possible with those that attend in a series of seminars on Friday afternoon, December 9. Our goal is to help riders on their journey through off-road riding. We will cap it all off with a party and campfire bench-racing session where we will relive the day’s ride plus tell a story or two from our experiences in Baja, desert and Dakar racing.”
“Handstands at 100pmph Baja Borrego Dual Sport Ride” will be held on Friday December 9 and Saturday December 10. The ride will be based out of the Ocotillo RV Resort. The dual-sport ride will be GPS guided and led by Johnny and Scot. It starts Friday, December 9 at 2 p.m. with rider training and technical seminars given by Johnny, Scot and special guests. The ride itself starts Saturday December 10 at 8 a.m. and will be approximately 100 miles in length. It will be followed by a party and campfire bench racing session. Entries are currently open. Cost: $250 (includes riding seminar by Johnny and Scot, 100-mile dual-sport ride and the post-ride party).

Johnny Campbell and Scot Harden have announced two events for 2022. A Baja/desert-racing reunion and dual-sport-ride reunion/celebration is planned for September 24 at Blackmore Ranch. And the “Baja Borrego” dual-sport ride is scheduled for December 10 at Ocotillo RV Resort.
Here are the August press releases for the events:
Menifee, CA (June 13, 2022) – Baja/Desert Champions, AMA, Off-Road Motorsports and Trailblazer Hall of Famers Johnny Campbell and Scot Harden have announced the dates for the second annual “Handstands at 100mph,” a special event celebrating the heritage and legacy of the Baja/Desert motorcycle racing community.
The 2022 reunion/celebration will be held at Blackmore Ranch on September 24 with the Handstands at 100mph Baja Borrego dual-sport ride expanded to a 130-mile+ ride in the Southern California desert on December 10. The reunion will once again bring together the largest gathering of Baja/Desert motorcycle legends and champions ever assembled and will include historic motorcycle displays, autograph sessions, food, drink and more.
“Last year’s event was a huge success, one that exceeded every expectation,” said Scot Harden. “The Baja/desert motorcycle-racing community responded enthusiastically, and we were overwhelmed by the response. Based on the feedback from the first event we are planning some new activities, special presentations, and a bit more of a show for the second annual Handstands reunion. We’ve also separated the reunion and dual-sport ride so we could focus more time on each. The Handstands at 100mph Baja Borrego Dual Sport ride will be 130+ miles long and a true off-road/desert experience. In addition to the actual ride, Johnny and I will be doing a riding seminar the night before for everyone who attends. The ride will be epic, one that will challenge every rider.”
“I’m really looking forward to getting together again with our friends and family from the Baja/Desert motorcycle racing community,” said Johnny Campbell. “The Blackmore Ranch facility is the perfect site for this special event. Plenty of space, beautiful scenery, and a great museum/workshop to host all our guests. This year we are really targeting the clubs and associations that are the backbone of the sport: NHHA, AMA D-37 & 38, SCORE, MRAN, MRANN and BITD. We want to see as many clubs as possible joining us for a full day of bench racing, camaraderie and good times. Our mission remains the same: honor the heritage and legacy of those that have contributed so much to the sport while at the same time inspiring future generations to take on the challenge.”
Handstands at 100mph Reunion/Celebration activities start at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 24. Autograph sessions, interviews and commentary on Baja/Desert racing will take place during the day. Cost is $50 per ticket and registration opens June 15, 2022
The Handstands at 100pmph Baja Borrego Dual Sport Ride will be held on Saturday December 10. The ride will be based out of the Ocotillo RV Resort. The AMA-sanctioned dual-sport ride will be GPS guided and led by Johnny and Scot. It starts at 8 a.m. and will be approximately 130 miles in length. Entries open June 15. Cost is $250, which includes a riding seminar by Johnny and Scot and a post-ride party.
