Ducati Superbike 1988-2001 Book
Press Release | November 18, 2022
Alan Cathcart has announced his latest book entitled Ducati Superbike 1988-2001, which covers the history of the factory Ducati Superbike racers during the Desmoquattro-engine era.
The book gives a unique hands-on perspective since Cathcart is only journalist in the world to have track tested all but two of the factory Ducati Desmo V-twin Superbikes from 1988 up to 2015. Each bike assessment includes exclusive photos along with insights from the men who raced them. The hard-cover volume releases in December in a limited-edition run of 996 copies. Price is listed at €35.
Here is more from the press release:
Alan Cathcart is the only journalist in the world to have track tested almost every one of the factory Ducati desmo V-twin Superbikes which participated in the Superbike World Championship down the years from its foundation in 1988 onwards.
In this definitive volume, the famous British racing journalist not only recounts the technical secrets of the first generation Ducati Superbikes which raced to victory in the World Championship up until 2001, but also crucially tells us what they were like to ride via his own hands-on experience of the hot seat. Frequently, this includes the crucial insight of the men who raced them for the Italian factory, including Carl Fogarty, Troy Corser, Doug Polen, Giancarlo Falappa and Troy Bayliss. And not to be overlooked are the book’s exclusive photos, which show these beautiful Ducati factory racers without bodywork, allowing race fans to admire the hitherto hidden secrets of these wonderful bikes!
This is a large format (cm 30×23) prestige volume, printed on quality paper, with 160 pages and a hardback cover, with the text in both Italian and English. It’ll be available in December 2022 as a limited edition, individually numbered book. It’s a book which every Ducati enthusiast should have in their library–and indeed fans of Superbike racing, too!
