The world championship may be over, but a handful of hard enduro’s best, including Wade Young, Mario Roman and American Cody Webb, still made the trek to Santiago, Chile to compete in the Red Bull Los Andes. A dry, dusty and steep challenge awaited them, along with South America’s best extreme enduro riders, but in the end, it was the Sherco trio that dominated the podium. Mario Roman took the win, followed by Young, while Cody Webb finished out the podium.

Webb got out to a strong start in the event, winning the bracket-style endurocross prologue. For the main event, which was comprised of three sections, it was a local hero Camilo Herrera who led the early going—an impressive show for the youngster. But ultimately the international field rose to the front, with defending event champion Wade Young moving into the lead.
Fresh off his spectacular FIM Hard Enduro World Championship season, 2022 Champion Mario Roman steadily pressed his way forward, besting his Sherco teammate for the win in the end, leaving Webb to collect third for an all-Sherco affair.
“It was a crazy race,” said Roman. “I was around 10th in the dust of many riders. From there I took things very calmly, steadily passing riders, but the race was not easy. I’m happy to get my second win at Red Bull Los Andes and I hope to repeat it next year.”
“For being the dustiest race I’ve ever done, that was for sure one of the more enjoyable extreme races,” said Webb. “It was set up really well for the spectators so the whole race was in one valley and you could see the whole course. “It was a little short—three very hard sections—and it wasn’t anything super crazy but it was fun to get help from the fans pulling people up sections. The atmosphere was really awesome. It’s just a big show and a race at the same time.” CN
