While it was KTM’s Josep Garcia who claimed the EnduroGP class win for the weekend, it was GasGas Factory Racing’s Andrea Verona who clinched the 2022 EnduroGP title on Saturday, day one of the GP of Germany. Jane Daniels (Fantic) also sewed up her championship on Saturday, taking the Magnorange FIM Women’s Enduro World Championship with one day still left on the calendar.
The final day of the GP of Germany, all eyes were on the Enduro2 and Enduro3 championships—E1 already claimed by overall champion Verona who claimed an astounding 13 wins from 14 races. Garcia was hoping to keep his E2 title hopes alive with his German GP win, but all it took from Australian rider Wil Ruprecht (TM) was a modest fourth-place finish to secure his first FIM Enduro2 World Championship title.
The battle heated up in E3 with Beta’s Brad Freeman and Husqvarna’s Mikael Persson heading into Sunday’s final faceoff tied on points. With everything to play for, they duked it out in the day’s 11 tests, with Freeman ultimately claiming the title.
In the Junior ranks, Team Sherco CH Racing’s Zach Pichon (who had already claimed the Junior title at round six) claimed the Junior1 World Cup. A fourth-place Junior-class finish on the day handed Beta’s Luc Fargier the Junior2 World Cup championship. CN
