Taddy Blazusiak docked two positions in moto two of round three in Denver, Colorado on Saturday.
Tulsa, Oklahoma (October 5, 2022) – Following the third round of the 2022 GEICO AMA EnduroCross Championship Series, the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) has released it’s post-race penalty report from the Denver EnduroCross. The AMA is imposing a two-position penalty on Taddy Blazusiak for “advantage gained while outside the boundary of the race course” in the first lap of the second moto in round three.
The two-position penalty on the GasGas Factory rider results in a change in the moto-two overall finish positions, the round three overall finish positions and the overall series standings.
The updated moto two overall has FactoryOne Sherco rider Cody Webb as the first-place finisher. Red Bull KTM rider Trystan Hart will take second place in moto two and Blazusiak will now finish in third.
Trystan Hart’s round three overall win remains unchanged by this penalty, but moves Webb from third to second overall on the night ahead of Blazusiak who moves down one position to third overall.
The move to third place overall in the Round Three standing’s shifts four points in the series from Blazusiak to Webb. With that shift, we now have a tie for first place in the series between Blazusiak and Hart. Additionally, Cody Webb now has 55 points in the overall series, but remains in fourth place.

“a. Leaving the designated race course is forbidden. A rider must make every effort to stay on course at all times. The penalty for course cutting to gain an advantage will be the loss of finishing positions or a disqualification.
b. A rider forced off the course may continue the race by properly re-entering the track at the closest safe point. While off the course the rider may not accelerate in an unsafe manner or attempt to gain an advantage. If a rider accelerates while off the course or cuts large amounts of the race course, the rider may be determined to have gained an advantage without gaining a position.
c. An advantage is not defined by the race position.”

2022 Denver Endurocross Results
The 2022 Geico AMA EnduroCross Championship Series visited Denver, Colorado, for round three of the series on Saturday, October 1. Trystan Hart took the overall win after the three feature races. The Red Bull KTM rider had 2-3-1 moto results. GasGas Factory Racing’s Taddy Blazusiak finished second overall with 4-1-2 moto finishes and rounding out the overall podium was FactoryOne Sherco rider Cody Webb with 3-2-5 results.
Hart kicked off his winning day by setting the fastest hot-lap time to set the starting order for the first of three motos with a time of 58.721. Rockstar Husqvarna’s Colton Haaker was second with a 58.824. FactoryOne Sherco rider Cooper Abbott (58.925), Beta rider Jonny Walker (59.404) and three-time EnduroCross Champion Webb (1:01.651) rounded out the top five.
Five-time EnduroCross Champion Haaker took the Moose Holeshot and an early lead in moto one, ahead of South Africa’s Blake Gutzeit, Webb and Walker. Haaker held on to the lead to take his first moto win of the season. Hart was closing the gap lap after lap after starting the race in seventh place. He ultimately finished second behind Haaker and in front of Webb.
The second moto inverts the 16 riders’ finish positions from race one for gate picks, so the top eight riders start on the second row. Spenser Wilton took advantage of the front-row start and shot out to an early lead. Nick Thompson (KTM) and Blazusiak were right behind him in second and third. Blazusiak made quick work of things and took over the lead by the end of the first lap. Webb also swiftly moved into second place and was on Blazusiak’s heels much of the race, ready to take the lead if Blazusiak slipped up. Blazusiak did not and cruised to a first-place finish ahead of Webb. Hart had another impressive showing, starting the race in tenth place and working his way through the field, ultimately finishing in the third slot for moto two.
In the final moto, Hart started and finished the same way, in first. From the moment the gate dropped Hart was focused and rode a consistent race. FactoryOne Sherco’s Cooper Abbott ran second for most of the race, but unfortunately for him, a few hiccups in the final laps dropped him back to fourth place. Blazusiak, who spent most of the race in fourth, made his way to second by the penultimate lap and stayed there to finish second in moto three for second overall. Walker, who had a mediocre first two motos, managed to snag his only podium finish of the night with a third-place finish in moto three.
For the overall results, Walker finished fourth with 6-7-3 moto finishes. Abbott came in fifth overall with an 8-4-4 score. Apolle finished sixth overall ahead of defending champion Colton Haaker. TM pilot Ty Cullins was eighth overall ahead RPM KTM rider Will Riordan. Thompson completed the top 10.
After three of six rounds, Blazusiak holds the championship points lead with 71 points, just four ahead of Hart, who moved into second place. Walker is third, 10 points behind the leader. Webb and Abbott are fourth and fifth in the championship chase respectively.
In the Women’s Pro class, four-time Women’s EnduroCross Champion Shelby Turner (KTM) took the win after an exciting head-to-head battle with FactoryOne Sherco’s Louise Forsley. The two finished 1-2, respectively, ahead of Rachel Gutish (Sherco) and Hallie Marks. CN
