James “Bubba” Stewart Named as All-Star Analyst for Budds Creek National Broadcast
One of the sport’s most decorated and beloved figures, James “Bubba” Stewart, will make his broadcast debut as All-Star Analyst at Budds Creek. No rider in the history of off-road motorcycle racing captured the admiration of the fans quite like Stewart, whose incredible talent aboard a motorcycle forever changed the landscape of the sport and made him one of motocross’ most transcendent athletes.
Something special was in store with every gate drop as Stewart seemingly always defied the laws of physics to become one of the most uniquely dominant riders of all time. Perhaps no moment was more indicative of Stewart’s indelible legacy on the sport than the infamous “Bubba Scrub,” which was shared with the world in competition for the first time at this very event, the Budds Creek National, during the 2003 season. This once groundbreaking maneuver has now become commonplace for the modern motocross athlete and is a necessity for success.
With a career that spanned 14 seasons from 2002 to 2016, Stewart is celebrated as the most dominant 125cc rider of all time with two championships (2002 & 2004) and 28 wins in 31 starts, while also being one of just two riders to amass a perfect season, where he went 24-0 in 2008 to capture his lone 450 Class title. All told, Stewart’s three championships are accompanied by 48 combined victories over the course of his career, which places him second all time. Mere weeks ago, Stewart was announced as one of the newest inductees in the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame as a member of the “Class of 2022” and has enjoyed a welcome return to the motocross spotlight with his popular “Bubba’s World” podcast.

Former Pro Motocross Champion & Broadcast Veteran Jeff Emig Joins Announcing Team as All-Star Analyst for Unadilla National
One of the sport’s most recognizable names will join the MAVTV team for Unadilla, as former Pro Motocross Champion and broadcast veteran Jeff Emig will serve as All-Star Analyst. A decorated racing career saw the Missouri native, affectionately known as “Fro,” capture a trio of AMA Motocross National Championships, first with a 125cc title in 1992 while riding for Yamaha, followed by back-to-back 250cc crowns during the 1996 and 1997 seasons with Kawasaki.
Emig also sits in the top 10 of the all-time wins list for both the 125cc/250cc division (13) and 250cc/450cc division (16), with a combined 29 career overall victories. Upon his retirement from the sport in 1999, Emig eventually made the transition into announcing. The same relentless work ethic that made him a champion also helped him overcome a stutter to become one of the most recognizable and well-respected broadcast figures in the sport, where he excelled as an analyst for many years as part of both Monster Energy Supercross and Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship telecasts. Emig’s most recent turn in the broadcast booth came just last summer when he joined host and lead commentator Jason Weigandt for the final two rounds of the 2021 season.

Pacific Northwest Native & Five-Time Pro Motocross Champion Ryan Villopoto Steps Into Broadcast Booth for Washougal National
The 50th Anniversary of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, will make its anticipated return to the West Coast, where the scenic Pacific Northwest will host round eight of the 2022 season. The tree-lined landscape of Washington’s picturesque Washougal MX Park will serve as the next test for the world’s best riders on Saturday, July 23, for the MotoSport.com Washougal National, presented by Peterson CAT.
Fittingly, the annual visit to the Pacific Northwest will also include a native of the region stepping into the role of All-Star Analyst at Washougal, as Washington’s own Ryan Villopoto will join host and lead commentator Jason Weigandt in the broadcast booth. A member of the “Class of 2021” for the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame, Villopoto is the most decorated racer to come from the “PNW,” with an impressive five combined titles in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. He began his career with three consecutive 250 Class titles from 2006-2008 and made a successful move into the 450 Class, where he earned a pair of championships during the 2011 and 2013 seasons.
If not for injuries, Villopoto could have amassed an even larger title haul, but he was forced to miss multiple summers while on the mend. Despite his hardships, Villopoto will forever carry the distinction of an undefeated championship record, as he won the title in each and every full season he contested. When he stepped away from full-time competition in 2014, Villopoto had earned 31 total wins (12 in the 450 Class; 19 in the 250 Class), which is good enough for ninth all-time in Pro Motocross history, and also collected 55 career podiums (24 in the 450 Class, 31 in the 250 Class). In recent years, Villopoto has served as an ambassador for Yamaha and has contested multiple 125cc exhibition races at Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship events.

Millville’s Own Jeremy Martin Set to Make Broadcast Commentary Debut as All-Star Analyst for Spring Creek National
This is a press release from MX Sports…
Morgantown, WV (July 15, 2022) – The second half of the 50th Anniversary of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, will get underway with the series’ annual visit to the “Land of 10,000 Lakes” in Minnesota for Round 7 of the 2022 season. Millville’s legendary Spring Creek MX Park will present one of the most dynamic track layouts on the schedule on Saturday, July 16, at the Frescados Tortillas Spring Creek National. Broadcast coverage of all four motos featuring the 250 Class and 450 Class will be showcased live on MavTV Motorsports Network, with live streaming coverage on “MavTV on FloRacing,” for which Pro Motocross fans can sign up for just $6.99 a month.
When it comes to navigating the challenges of Spring Creek, there’s no better person than two-time Pro Motocross 250 Class Champion and three-time Spring Creek National winner Jeremy Martin to lend his expertise. The Millville native, younger brother of veteran racer Alex Martin, and son of the track’s owners, John and Greta Martin, will bring that unparalleled insight into the broadcast booth on Saturday, where he’ll make his debut alongside host and lead commentator Jason Weigandt as All-Star Analyst.
Although a heartbreaking shoulder injury ended Jeremy’s 2022 season before it even began and will prevent him from defending his Spring Creek victory from 2021, the newly signed Muc-Off/FXR/ClubMX Yamaha rider eagerly accepted the invitation to still be a part of his home race, albeit in a more unique capacity. In addition to his championship accolades (2014 & 2015), Martin’s 20 career wins place him in a tie for fourth on the all-time 250 Class wins list, while his 46 career podiums are the second most in the history of the division, just one shy of tying the all-time mark.

This is a press release from MX Sports…
Morgantown, WV (June 16, 2022) – The 50th Anniversary of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, will make its East Coast debut for the fourth round of the 2022 season, with the sport’s own long-standing Father’s Day tradition. The Lucas Oil Stabilizer High Point National is one of American motocross’ crown jewels, with more than four decades of history that dates back to 1977 on the hallowed grounds of High Point Raceway, which sits nestled on the Holbert Family Farm in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania, a mere mile from the West Virginia border. The landmark 45th running of this storied event will take place on Saturday, June 18, with comprehensive live coverage that will be broadcast on MavTV Motorsports Network and streamed exclusively for free on both MavTV.com and MavTVPlus.com.
After an impressive broadcasting debut that left the industry abuzz, AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Class of 2000 inductee Broc Glover will once again take a seat alongside host and lead commentator Jason Weigandt to provide key insight as an All-Star Analyst. The six-time AMA National Champion and Southern California native became one of motocross’ biggest stars in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, thanks to his incredible success as a Yamaha factory rider and his trademark surfer look of blonde curls that helped garner Glover the nickname “The Golden Boy.” His championship-winning seasons came over a stretch of eight years, beginning with a dominance of the 125cc division before progressing into a powerhouse 500cc rider. Glover amassed 35 wins over the course of his career, across three different divisions (125cc, 250cc, 500cc), and his six titles are second only to Ricky Carmichael.

The GOAT Ricky Carmichael Set to Make Broadcast Debut with Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at Thunder Valley
This is a press release from MX Sports…
Lakewood, CO (June 10, 2022) – The 50th Anniversary of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, will leave the “Golden State” for the first time in 2022 and travel to the mile-high altitude of the Rocky Mountains for the third round of the season from Colorado. At an elevation of more than 6,100 feet, Lakewood’s scenic Thunder Valley Motocross Park boasts the highest elevation of any professional motocross track in the world and presents one of the most unique challenges in American motocross. As a result, the Toyota Thunder Valley National is poised for a thrilling afternoon of competition that will officially kick off with the season premiere on NBC Television Network and a showcase of the opening 450 Class moto, followed by live coverage of the remaining races in both the 450 Class and 250 Class on MavTV Motorsports Network, with free online streaming on MavTV.com and MavTVPlus.com.
Joining host and lead commentator Jason Weigandt in the broadcast booth as All-Star Analyst will be the most decorated athlete in the history of the sport, “The G.O.A.T.” himself, Ricky Carmichael. This will signify Carmichael’s debut as a commentator for the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, but his voice is one of the most familiar in the sport thanks to his analyst role on NBC for Monster Energy Supercross. On the track, the Florida native was the standard bearer for success and amassed the single-most-successful career in the Pro Motocross Championship’s 50-year history. His record 10 total championships, all won consecutively between 1997 and 2006, is complemented by a historic 102 career wins, both of which are marks poised to stand the test of time. During his decade-long career, Carmichael won championships for three different manufacturers – Kawasaki, Honda, and Suzuki – and became the first rider to ever complete a perfect season, winning all 24 motos that comprised the 12-round championship. He accomplished this feat twice, in 2002 and 2004 riding for Honda. Carmichael retired from competition on his terms, with a farewell tour in 2007 that saw him compete in six Nationals, winning each one to surpass the 100-win milestone and become the only rider in history to eclipse that mark.
