Kyle McDonal put on a spectacular last-lap charge that resulted in the Beta rider claiming the overall win at the ECEA/MCI StumpJumpers Hare Scrambles—round four of the AMA East Hare Scrambles Championship—in West Creek, New Jersey, May 15.

Unfortunately, wind and rain played havoc throughout the weekend. At one point, Sunday’s main event, which included the pros, had to be red-flagged and restarted after one lap. After that, the race went on without a hitch.
The 2021 ECEA Champion Jason Tino (KTM) led the way for most of the race, while Hunter Bush (GasGas) and McDonal gave chase.
It wasn’t until the final lap when McDonal decided to make his move to the front, while just a few seconds separated the top three racers. He put his Beta into overdrive and reeled in and passed both Bush and Tino for the exciting win. McDonal crossed the finish line 23 seconds ahead of Tino, who finished approximately 40 seconds ahead of Bush.
Another battle took place over fourth place with 125cc-mounted Max Fernandez (GasGas) coming out on top ahead of Justin Lafferty (KTM) and Kyle Tino (KTM), who was the top A-class rider.
Wally Palmer (Kawasaki), Addison Kramer (KTM), Joe Ford (Yamaha) and Joel Dengler (Yamaha), the top Senior rider, completed the top 10 overall.
Shyann Phelps (KTM) was the top Women A-class finisher.
Christopher Wiess was the best of the Bs, coming from the 200cc start line.
Sunday’s morning race, which includes the Sportsmen, Schoolboy, B Vets and C riders, KTM-mounted Christian Crum emerged from the Sportsmen class to take the overall win ahead of the top Schoolboy 2 rider Dalten Robbins (Yamaha). Jordan White (Sherco), Nathan Bell (KTM) and Zach Garrison (KTM) rounded out the top five overall.
