Encinitas, CA (March 3, 2022) – The Road 2 Recovery Foundation has confirmed that Jeff Emig will be the next guest speaker to join the R2R Mental Health Initiative Anonymous Zoom Peer Group Meeting on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, starting at 5:30 p.m. PST. Jeff will begin the meeting by sharing his story with mental health throughout his career and his experience with this month’s topic: Addiction.
In conjunction with the monthly Mental Health Peer Zoom Meetings, R2R will release the first video episode in a multi-series release on Professional Athletes and Mental Health. These videos are interview-style and will feature a new athlete or industry professional each month addressing their personal experience with mental health.
Keeping to the meeting topic for March, addiction, the first installment to be released will include guest speaker Jeff Emig. The full video will be available on March 7, 2022, at 9 a.m. PST [on the R2R YouTube channel].
Following this release, the first Tuesday of every month, R2R will release the next installment’s teaser video with the full edit available the Monday before the R2R Mental Health Initiative Anonymous Zoom Peer Group Meeting. These impactful videos give you a glimpse into the mental health struggles of professional athletes such as Rick Johnson, Trey Canard, Dave Pingree, Broc Glover and many more.
Addiction and how it affects the mental health of the person struggling with the addiction and the people in their circle can be complicated to manage and seek help. This month’s topic will resonate with athletes and non-athletes alike and is beneficial for all to hear. Having Jeff Emig share on film and in the meeting how battling his addiction at an early stage in his professional racing career and how it helped him prepare for the unforeseen hurdles and struggles is exceptionally impactful. He attributes the strength to persevere to the battles he won in his past that set him up for success in his retirement. This meeting will hit multiple mental health topics and participants will be provided tools for coping with the resources needed to support themself and our community that is currently struggling. Questions for Jeff or one of the licensed therapists running the meeting will follow and be open to all joining the Zoom call.
