In this week’s Throwback we travel back to September of 1986 and the Syracuse Mile. This shot shows Randy Texter leading a group of riders that includes Pete Hames (No. 32), Alex Jorgensen (No. 44), Randy Goss (No. 6) and others during one of the qualifying races. Texter was an all-around racer in the 1980s and ‘90s. He scored solid finishes in AMA Grand National and Harley-Davidson 883 Dirt Track competition. He was also a strong road racer as well having raced AMA Superbike and winning the winner-take-all Harley-Davidson 883 Twin Sports Championship at Daytona International Speedway in 1990. Sadly, Randy passed away of heart failure in 2010, but his lasting legacy remains as both of his children, Cory and Shayna, grew up to become racing champions in their own right. In a few weeks Cory is set to begin his title defense in AFT Production Twins and Shayna will race in AFT SuperTwins aboard a factory Indian.
