Another barn burner race for round eight of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series in Arlington, Texas. This was the second Triple Crown race of the year which means there’s three times the action out on track. Eli Tomac and Cameron Mcadoo came home as tonight’s big winners, but not exaclty in easy fashion. Let’s get to it.
450SX
Chase Sexton returns to racing tonight after a race-ending crash he sustained last weekend. He passes the concussion protocol and was cleared to race in Arlington. Aaron Plessinger is not on the line tonight after a practice crash resulted in a broken arm.
Race One – No shortage of drama in the 450SX class. Marvin Musquin jumped out to the early lead and held the spot over Jsaon Anderson and Malcolm Stewart. Stewart quickly moved to second and wasted no time getting around Musquin too, who stalled his bike in a turn.
With Stewart leading, it was Jason Anderson who was the hunter, slowly making time on the Husqvarna rider. He went for a pass but “grabbed gas” instead of brakes and collided with Stewart, taking both riders down in the process. They got up and re-entered the race in fifth and sixth place.
Justin Barcia became the race leader after the Anderson Stewart debacle. He clicked off a few laps ahead of Cooper Webb and lead until the final lap. Webb made a key last lap pass and maintained the lead until the checkered flag. Barcia took home second and Eli Tomac made his way past Sexton for third.
Race Two – Chase Sexton made his presence known in 450 race two. After a race-ending crash last weekend, he was cleared to ride this week. He grabbed the holeshot and the early lead over Anderson and Tomac.
Jason Anderson and Eli Tomac found themselves in tango during race two. The title fighters exchanged passes but Anderson continued to hold the position.
Anderson eventually made his way up to Sexton and passed for the lead through the whoop section. He would redeem himself from race one and take the win in the second go around.
Tomac also passed Sexton late in the race and secured second place. The two crossed the line second and third.
Race one winner Cooper Webb finished fourth.
Race Three – Chaos off the start in 450 race three. Shane Mcelrath grabbed the holeshot with Tomac and Anderson closely behind. Webb, Musquin, and Roczen all suffered their issues off the start and were towards the back of the pack.
Tomac quickly went to the lead with the stalking Anderson closely in tow. Tomac put up a strong fight but ultimately did not need to win the final race to take the overall. Anderson eventually made the pass for the lead but Tomac hung with and finished a close second.
Anderson’s win put him second overall (6-1-1) with Tomac taking the overall due to his consistency (3-2-2).
Malcom Stewart put it on the box in race three, showing he had the speed all night. The crash in race one really set him back all night and he comes home fifth overall.
Cooper Webb rode the wave of momentum and got another podium this week with 1-4-4 finishes. He was consistent all night and did what he needed to stay in it for three mains.
Chase Sexton was on the move in race three but hit the deck trying to avoid Malcolm Stewart after the finish line. He got up and finished fifth in race three, fourth on the overall.

Race One – Race one of the 250SX class started with Jett Lawrence taking the holeshot but only leading until turn two. He spun out in the second turn and dropped to 18th place. This mistake handed the lead over to Stiles Robertson, Cameron Mcadoo, and Austin Forkner.
Robertson led lap one and fended off a hard-charging Mcadoo. Forker, stalking from behind, made a great run through the whoops and passed both leaders in one fellow swoop. From there, Forkner would lead the rest of the race and take home the checkers. Mcadoo stayed put in a solid second with a charging RJ Hampshire rounding out the podium in third.
Jett Lawrence was arguably the fastest rider on the track in race one and despite a lap one crash, the young Aussie charged back to fourth place. He narrowly missed the podium behind Hampshire but kept his overall hopes alive with a fourth.
Race Two – Rebounding from race one, Jett Lawrence dominated 250SX race two. He narrowly missed the holeshot but quickly moved to the lead and never looked back. This keeps his overall hopes in tact with 4-1 finishes going into race three.
Jeremy Martin also rebounded in race two. He got collected in race one and crashed trying to avoid the downed Jett Lawrence. He passed Stilez Robertson for second and held the spot until the finish.
Cameron Mcadoo finished third in race two. He went the long way around Austin Forkner in the whoops and the following bowl turn. Forkner rode in tow until a big mistake which secured the position for Mcadoo. The Kawasaki duo went third and fourth respectively.
Race Three – Race three looked like a repeat of race one as Jett Lawrence got another great start but fell in turn one. He closed out Austin Forkner off the gate which meant both riders would have their work cut out for them.
Up front Cameron Mcadoo got the lead and looked to be running away with the race win. His consistency throughout the night put him in contention to win the overall and he did just that by clinching the final round of the night. He is now tied for the points lead with Lawrence.
Lawrence and Forkner made their way into podium territory and found themselves in their own battle. Lawrence made a gutsy pass in the whoops where he swapped but made it stick just before the finish. He then tagged a Tuff Block off the face of the finish line and crossed jumped Forkner. The two connected mid-air and sent both riders crashing down. Lawrence got up and finished 10th but Forkner did not finish the race.
Jeremy Martin was up near the front again but tangled with Jace Owen in the mid part of the race. He remounted and finished later finished third which locked him in for an overall podium.
Pierce Brown put in a great ride in race three. He had his fair share of mishaps in the first two races but grabbed a podium in the final main of the night.
