1993 Grand Prix World Champions Get Camera Time at Jarama
In this week’s Throwback we go back 29 years to the completion of the 1993 Motorcycle Grand Prix World Championships. The four class champions came out for a final ride around Jarama for fans who stuck around, and for photographers to capture a unique image of the quintet of freshly-crowned champs riding side by side. From left to right in this shot are 1993 Sidecar World Champs Rolf Biland and Kurt Waltisperg of Switzerland aboard their LCR-Krauser, then 125cc GP Champ Dirk Raudies of Germany on his Europa Raudies-Honda, 250cc GP Champ Tetsuya Harada of Japan on his Telkor Valesi-Yamaha and 500cc GP Champ Kevin Schwantz of the USA on his Team Lucky Strike Suzuki. It appears that there are at least 20 photographers crammed onto the back of the truck trying to take shots.
