Riverside County Off-Highway Vehicle Feasibility Study
Press Release | January 14, 2022
Here is an opportunity to add your input for a potential off-highway vehicle park in Riverside County, California.
The Riverside County Regional Park and Open Space District (RivCoParks), in partnership with the State of California Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division, is conducting a countywide feasibility site and selection study for a future public off-highway vehicle (OHV) park.
The purpose of the study is to identify locations for a regional OHV recreation area in Riverside County. When identifying potential OHV park sites, the OHV Park Feasibility Study considers land ownership; sensitive lands; sources of noise and dust; cultural resource and environmental protection; and private land rights. Stakeholder and community input is being integrated into the planning effort.
Depending on funding, it is possible the County may wish to develop two parks with one larger located more to the east and one smaller that is closer to the greatest concentration of OHV users in the western limits of the study area.
RivCoParks is looking for input from the public on six sites in order to narrow the prospective sites likely down to three. Scott Harden (Baja/Desert/Rally Champion and AMA/Offroad Motorsport/Trailblazer Hall of Famer) lives in the area and feels that the following sites have the best potential: Twin Pines Ranch, Banning South and Banning North.
