In its third outing in Saudi Arabia, the 44th edition of the Dakar will double as the opening round of the FIA and FIM World Rally-Raid Championship. The route is expected to be 7500km across Saudi Arabian deserts, with 13 stages from Jeddah to Ha’il and Riyadh then back again.

There are currently 168 motorcycle entries for this year’s Dakar. Here are some of them:
Luciano Benavides and Skyler Howes will represent Husqvarna Factory Racing at the 2022 the Dakar Rally with the two-man team set to compete on the new FR 450 Rally.
Monster Energy Yamaha Rally Team enters the 2022 Dakar Rally with three talented riders: Adrien Van Beveren, Andrew Short and Ross Branch.
Marc Coma will join KTM AG and its brands to share his experience and knowledge.
The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team of Matthias Walkner, Toby Price and Kevin Benavides will all compete on the latest version of the KTM 450 Rally–a bike developed in close cooperation between KTM Technologies, KTM’s R&D department, KISKA, and KTM Motorsports over the last two years.
Danilo Petrucci will trade his knee sliders for knee braces and race in Tech3 KTM Factory Racing colors.
Sam Sunderland will join Daniel Sanders under the GasGas Factory Racing awning at the 2022 Dakar.
The revamped Monster Energy Honda Team consists of American Ricky Brabec, José Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Cornejo, Joan Barreda and Pablo Quintanilla.
Lorenzo Santolino, Rui Goncalves and Harith Noah will race the 2022 Dakar for the Sherco TVS Factory Rally on a 450 SEF Rally motorcycle (below) that is 100% new.
