Oli Bayliss steps up to WorldSSP in 2022

Oli Bayliss, son of three-time WorldSBK Champion and MotoGP race winner, Troy, will head to the WorldSSP Championship in 2022 and compete for the Barni Racing Team on the Ducati Panigale V2.
Bayliss, 18, will partner Luca Bernadi in the team, the Italian taking care of Superbike duties as the Supersport championship changes its rules for 2022, allowing larger displacement twin and three-cylinder machines on the grid to compete with the traditional 600 cc four-cylinder bikes.
“I am really happy to announce that I will race with the Barni Racing Team in the Supersport World Championship with a Ducati Panigale V2,” Bayliss said. “I have completed my schooling, this means that I can fully concentrate on my career on the bike, on training and only on that.”
Bayliss has been hugely impressive in the 2021 Australian Superbike Championship, taking a win on the DesmoSport Ducati Panigale V4 R at Hidden Valley against established stars Wayne Maxwell and Glenn Allerton. He will move to Ravenna, Italy, with father Troy shepherding him.
“Oliver grew up in the racing world, 2021 was his first year on a Ducati V4 R in ASBK and he immediately took a win in Darwin at the beginning of 2021,” Troy Bayliss said. “Success came sooner than we could wait and I think the move to the Barni Racing Team is a great opportunity. I hope he can have as much fun with the twin-cylinder Ducati as I enjoyed.”
