2022 Kawasaki Versys 650 First Look
Rennie Scaysbrook | November 23, 2021
The Kawasaki Versys 650 stands pretty much on its own as far as mid-size Japanese touring machines go (is it an ADV tourer?!), and for 2022 it’s getting a nice little overhaul with new electronics and styling.
The 2022 edition will receive the two-stage Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) system (that can’t be switched off) and a new 4.3-inch TFT color dash that enables smartphone connectivity and allows you to use the Rideology app for navigation/phone calls/music, etc.
The styling has been updated with a wider, more angled nose similar to the Versys 1000 and houses new LED lights and a four-way adjustable screen.
Under the hood sits the same 649cc parallel-twin four-stroke motor that’s also found in the Ninja 650, and basic Showa suspension allows preload and rebound damping adjustment on the front and preload only on the rear.
There’s also the solid 5.5 gallon gas tank, meaning you’ll get plenty of miles between stops.
If you go for the Versys 650 LT you also get 28 liter hard saddle bags, big enough to fit a full size helmet.
Accessories for both bikes include a USB power socket, taller windshield, LED auxiliary lights, engine guards and a tank pad.
The 2022 Kawasaki Versys 650 is available in Metallic Spark Black/Metallic Flat Spark Black with an MSRP of $8,899 or Candy Lime Green/Metallic Flat Spark Black/Metallic Spark Black with an MSRP of $9,099. The 650 LT is available in Metallic Spark Black/Metallic Flat Spark Black with an MSRP of $9,999.
