The 2022 Monster Energy Motocross des Nations is just a few weeks away and the official entry list has been released.
The race will be held on American soil this year at Michigan’s RedBud MX in Buchanan, September 24-25, and Team USA, with Eli Tomac, Chase Sexton and Justin Cooper, is hoping to keep the Chamberlain Trophy in the U.S. this year for the first time since 2011. The U.S. certainly has a good shot of doing that but there are a few notable teams that will stand in their way, including the defending champs, Team Italy, with Antonio Cairoli, Andrea Adamo and Mattia Guadagnini.
Team France will be strong this year with riders Maxime Renaux, Marvin Musquin and Dylan Ferrandis, as will Team Belgium with Jago Geerts, Liam Everts and Jeremy Van Horebeek.
Many feel, however, that Team Australia has a great chance to win it all for the first time with the Lawrence brothers, Hunter and Jett, and Mitchell Evans. Jett Lawrence, who will most likely win this year’s AMA 250MX title, will ride a 450cc with the support of his current Honda HRC factory crew, as will Hunter. And you can’t count out the Dutch team of Glenn Coldenhoff, Kay de Wolf and Calvin Vlaanderen.
Great Britain recently announced its trio of riders: Dean Wilson, Max Anstie and veteran Tommy Searle. CN
MXdN Announcement From September, 2021
During a press conference held in Mantova, Italy at the 2021 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations, it was confirmed RedBud, in Buchanan, Michigan, will host the 2022 Motocross of Nations for the second time in history.
Infront Moto Racing CEO David Luongo, said, “We will be back in RedBud for the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations. We had a long and very committed talk with Amy and Tim Ritchie [track owners]. Together with AMA, MX Sports in the U.S. and the FIM we worked together after the last event in 2018, it was important to consider the coming back racing to the USA. We are very excited to be back there. RedBud is a fantastic place, and it was great success despite the weather we had last time, we really had a lot of spectators joining and we cannot wait to be there again next year. I hope everybody is excited as we are to come back to the RedBud.”
Organizer of Red Bud Amy Ritchie, said, “We’re so excited to have the FIM Monster Energy Motocross of Nations return to RedBud! 2018 was an amazing experience that people are still talking about. Beyond the staff and officials, the race teams and the multitude of fans in attendance, our whole community enjoyed the culture and people it brought from around the world. Even in extreme conditions, it was a very special event, and we can’t wait to do it again!”
“In spite of the conditions, 2018 turned out to be a fantastic event,” said Tim Richie. “The only thing that could’ve been better was the weather! We’re going to hope and pray all year for a nice weekend, but we’ll be ready for ‘2022” the Redo,’ either way.” CN
