Repsol Honda’s Toni Bou and TRRS Factory Team’s Adam Rago split the overall wins at the Andorra round of the FIM World Trial Championship, August 21-22. Bou edged out Raga for the win on Saturday and Raga topped Sunday’s round over Jaime Busto.
On Saturday, Bou fought neck and neck against archrival Raga for the win throughout the two laps of the Andorran course. Bou and Raga constantly traded places at the head of the table, but in the end, it was Bou who claimed the win, despite finishing on 46 marks, the same number as his rival. The tie-breaking factor proved to be the total time taken in completing the route, with Bou finishing one minute ahead.
“Today I achieved a win at the absolute limit,” Bou said after Saturday’s win. “It was very close, but we never threw in the towel at any time and battled until the very end. It was very tight, and Raga made things really difficult for me.”
Bou suffered a tire puncture early Sunday followed by several mistakes which resulted in a third place on the day.
It was another battle for Raga who edged out Vertigo’s Jaime Busto by one point for the day’s victory.
“I’m very happy because yesterday I deserved the victory,” said Raga. “Today I was very strong, but so were some of the other riders and everything was very tight until the last moment.”
Bou still leads the championship after six rounds, 92-84, over Raga.
